Making a wooden toilet paper holder!

Come along and watch as we make a toilet paper holder for the bathroom makeover. The Wife doesn't know this yet, but, I'm slowly going to change the bathroom to all cedar!
For those who don't know, my wife and I started Charlie Mike Woodworks & Design to "continue the mission" that God placed in our hearts. That mission is to help people who suffer from PTSD, depression and other mental health disorders. While our cornerstone is all Veterans and First Responders, we want to help anyone who suffers. These HERO Veterans and First Responders deserve help in any form that may reaches that person. Our way to help is by showing there are avenues available and to provide a positive and happy space for those who desperately deserve it.

I subscribed to be part of Continuing the Mission. Thanks for trying to help military people. They are being forgotten by so many.

I agree. And yet, the military isn't the only group affected - first responders are as are many people who were neither. That's why we need to inform as many people in as many ways possible. Let's spread the word to everyone! Thank you brother

There should be a cut-out at the bottom so you can fill from the top and take out rolls from the bottom.

I think it will look better if you don’t put the top piece of wood, round off the back piece to the paper roll diameter and then on that back piece paint, carve or place a sticker simulating a measurement scale. So as the paper roll is used people knows how much is left.

I kind of agree about the top, or the shelf. I didn't have it on the first one that I threw together awhile back. Thought I'd try something different on this one. The back piece part is an interesting idea, and I might explore that angle. Thank you so much for your comments and ideas. I appreciate that.

I actually like the top piece. When I wander into the bathroom with my cell phone, I could just set it on that top shelf. Great build by the way.

@@gwestep thank you! I admit the top shelf does hold my cell phone well. However, I've noticed that if I'm missing it, that's where I find it. So it's pulling double duty for me!

You might want to research your ripping technique for safety reasons. I'm talking about where you cut away your eighth of an inch.

Yes, small pieces can become projectiles, you're absolutely correct. It is not as safe, but doable. Plus, my table insert isn't the best, which also plays in it. PLUS, if you notice I do stand to the side instead of behind. I'll mention that in the future, and thank you for reminding me to do that for others. You rock and thank you again! Charlie Mike!!

@@CharlieMikeWoodworks The unsafe technique isn't about cutting small pieces of material. It's about pushing through on your off-cut instead of the material which is up against the fence. You leave that section trapped in between the fence and a spinning blade.

@@gabrielgarcia5686 correct. It was early when I sent my reply, but, what you said is what I was trying to answer to about the projectiles. I agree it's not as safe as with material against the fence, and in hindsight I should have mentioned that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
