Yew is tough wood to score here in Poland too. Sycamore is a decent one, good luck with your build 💪

Has to be made of Yew so when you use it you can "pluck Yew".

What kind of wood do you use to make these bows and how do you identify the correct tree type?

This one was built from yew wood. There are plenty of characteristics to identify tree type. The best ones are: leaves, bark and overall tree shape

Drawknife, hatchet, scraper, rasp - these are basic tools. I think I've seen some white oak bows but I've never used it by myself

That looks like pine to me is that not a hardwood? I don't know why I'm beginning to see all your archery posts but some of them are quite interesting especially that strange bow with multiple tips

pine does not make a good bow. arrows yes but bow no. that is yew.

it looks like yew wood, most common wood for English longbow. yes the core is used on the inside of the bow, the belly, because it compresses very well. the lightwood is on the outside of the bow because its much more flexible and stretches well. hope that helps

Nice work 👏👏👏The main problem is there are no more inamies to shoot on 😏😆....IT'S CRAZY in the movies when they say "fire" on shooting arrows 🤦...stoopid as hell ....mind blowing 🤯 .The right word that middle eages's officer said to the bowman soldiers must be : SHOOT or RELEASE or UNLEASH (franch origine words)
