Being a "monkey see, monkey do" kind of learner, I appreciate this "show, don't tell" format. Thanks, Craig!

Great work, Brother !!! I love watching people create tools and things from scratch. My 8 yr old just said, "Dad, he's really good at that ! He finished it in 7 minutes !" 😁😁😁 Thank you for sharing, and showing us the possibilities of being in the outdoor community !!! Keep up the great work !!!

Very kind words. I am guessing you and your son working together can make a great one in the same amount of time. I appreciate your encouragement.

@@NatureReliance, thank you for the kind words. We live in Chicago......wouldn't be in need of a froe....LOL !!! We do get out to the woods and outdoors, as much as possible. 👍👍👍

This reminded me of the old "Wordless Workshop" feature in Popular Mechanics magazine.

@@NatureReliance - Well it's not a bad thing. Your video is of course better than that by virtue of being actual video footage rather than a series of drawings. I'm just an old man reminiscing about things from a simpler time.

Good video, but won't the green wood shrink once it dries out?
@NatureReliance
@NatureReliance 9 ай бұрын
Great question, yes, it will shrink. But you just beat it down further that’s why you leave it long on the other end.

I understand why the handle is wider on one end that the other. Same concept as a pick or a mattock handle. My question is, wouldn't it be better to set the blade in place like you would with an axe head or doesn't that work because the set direction is different?

Great question. Froes are used basically "upside down", not really but I think you understand what I am saying. Since you strike on the top side and drive it down, if it was similarly hung, you will knock it out. I hope that makes sense. Thank you for asking.

@@NatureReliance It does and I kinda answered the question myself but thank you for the confirmation.

Froes are also meant to be able to be taken apart for easy carry. So a slip joint fit works great.
