This would be great for a little survival hatchet, these table saw blades also work good to make knives and broadheads as well.

The teeth of all circular saw blades are hardened steel. The body of circular saw blades are mild steel that can't be hardened.

Not bad... Only slight changes I'd make is taper down the handle where the blade attaches 1st and THEN put the nails in, so you can flatten the nail ends to turn them into "rivets" to make the connection stronger, otherwise they may work loose eventually even with the epoxy. Also I'd put the stitching for the top leather wrap on the side of the handle instead of lined up with the cutting edges, that way if you miss you won't hit the stitches and break them over time. All in all a great project! Now where did that old saw blade go I had laying around?!

This is a very nice project but I must say finding the center line of a round objects is not easy and to make a cut in a round objects will go off center in a hurry the center line adds strength it's easier do with 2 spead squares before cutting make double sure both sides are marked check it twice cut once I my self learned this lesson and I hope it will help someone else

I started making hatchets like these about 2012, and have trouble keeping up with the demand. The only change I made was to the leather at the blade. Once I sew it in place, I go back and put a heavy layer of Bondo body filler epoxy over it, and it hardens like micarta.
