Speaking of the Elektronauts forum, I am an old, early adopter / long-time user of the Octatrack, Rytm, MachineDrum... The EP-133 is fun, immediate, weird, spontaneous, and *waaay* easier to sample on than those other instruments (until you get to know them!) 🙃 I never got on with my MPC back then, so this is a breath of fresh air for me.

I’m telling you it was designed for kids to be able to get given for Christmas. It’s like a plastic toy compared to the }#mpcx and it’s way more difficult to do just about everything and this is why it reminds me of a 2000xl by #akai but just not built like a drumming device. Idk. I have to watch these videos just to learn this stupid thing . Everything is easier to do with the mpcx and I don’t feel like I’m going to break it like i do with this thing. But the limitations of the KO2 force you to do things differently and sometimes weird things happen like a ghost in the machine and it makes it more cool.

I believe they are addressing the hold pad issue when sampling. The rest, don‘t know…but they are aware of the demand for resampling

Are you meaning hold the record button? I just hit record and play at the same time and it records everything

Maybe referring to having to hold the Sample slot to sample? Which is also a pain… you can’t arm to sample and get both hands on the sound source, like two hand keyboard chord

Just one undo. Lay down something you don't like, or by accident, you can undo that pattern only.

Pressing fader + 1-9 selects what the fader is adjusting. It's really nicely thought out!

I think you actually mean "why are people more excited about this than the Akai MPC One?" Asking why a cheaper product that does less (but does it differently) exists is kind of a silly question. "Why does Honda bother to make a car when Mercedes makes a better one for more money?" There are different price points for different points of entry. Someone doesn't have to be intimidated by the more expensive product to not want to buy it if a cheaper alternative that "does enough" exists. How does the problem of "I can't afford that other thing" not exist? I think you're assuming a lot about what kind of change people are willing to spend if they just want something to scratch an itch. Every product in existence has multiple options with multiple price points (especially where paying more means you get more features). At $300 here it's a fun enough thing to play around with even if someone isn't sure if they will stick with it, but it's good enough for a lot of people who will - or at the very least, it's fun enough to play with for now. I think people often oggle the Teenage Engineering aesthetic as well, and this is one of the most capable and cheapest products that they could actually afford in a long while.
