Making BIG GAME PCP 4000 PSI Valve and Tank

2 ай бұрынIn this video I'll be making a valve and a connector for a manometer and a fill nipple for a stainless PCP tank, the maximum pressure is 4000 PSI, but to ensure safety I recommend 3500 PSI. Keep following this series of videos and you'll see the finished version soon, it will be really powerful in just 4,5mm. I am expecting around 1100-1200 fps minimum using a 15.4 grain slug.

Internal diameter 23mm. 11.5x11.5x3,14=415 mm2 (4,15cm2) 1 bar=10N/cm2 4000psi = 276 bar. So… you hold back 276x 10x 4,15 N =11454 N with a couple of little screws. Reckon with only one; they don’t bear equally and when the first snaps, then the second may well go too. Mind that the screw itself M6 has a core surface of 2.38 x 2.38 x3.14 mm =17,8mm2. If the quality is 8.8, the tensile strength is 800 N per mm2, starting to yield at 80% or 640N. For a shearing load as the screw experiences here, we take 80% of that value. We are then left at 512N/mm2 x17.8 mm2 or a load of 9113N at which the screw will probably fail. With 11454N … you are a lucky bastard. And please, dont grease O rings on a cloth full of chips.

this is a very common way to do it. the grub screws arent the only thing holding it but the inlet valve too, which is a lot thicker

If I may know, what is the safe pressure for the tube?

@@lukmankhakim5568 the tube is 304 stainless steel, 27mm OD 2mm wall thickness. Using barlow's formula the burst pressure is 10958 PSI, and therefore the safe pressure would be 3652 PSI if we use 1:3 safety factor which is commonly used for air gun tanks.

@@lukmankhakim5568 Depends on the od, if you used a 27mm 304 SS tube like me, then 2700 PSI. 25 OD is more common for 1.5mm wall thickness tubes, for those it's 2958 PSI

How much possibility psi per single shoot , biggest air pressure on pcp

Max psi per shot with the spring i use is about 10 shots from 4000 PSI to 3200 PSI, so 80 PSI per shot. 80 PSI per shot gives me about 70 joule, or 1250 fps using 15.4 grain. However I don't know what higher consumptions would give, I don't have a spring that strong to test. I think if you just try to bring the usage to like 500 PSI per shot you are gonna get at least 100 joule.

i think i know that minilathe model. You can easily disengage lead screw gears from spindle - it will make a lot less racket :)

If possible, the valve shaft must use a thread to enter the Tevlon. Prone to breaking often hit by a hammer.

Many successful airguns do not use a thread. But they do not use Teflon, they use stronger plastics such as acetal, or PEEK for more strength. If the valve stem is very thin, a larger diameter metal insert can be pressed into the plastic, it does not need to be threaded.

What kind of oil do you use for O-rings?

@@jandeeg152 yes, oils can combust under high pressure oxygen. But this is not pure oxygen I am using, its just air. Therefore combustion of the oil isn't likely

Di Indonesia This 2mm Monel material is made with 6 bolts and a pressure of 4500psi. 180cc cal32mm 8shoot 1100fps can be produced.

@@Pierchinggun i think 4500 psi is a bit too much. The burst pressure is 10800 PSI. depending on the steel alloy, of course.

that was just the unpressurized air bubbling away from the threads/what was between the valve and the tube. It's not from the tank. I have stored this for maybe a week at most while pressurized at 3000 PSI, a week later still at 3000 PSI.

You probably won't be able to get a hammer to open your poppet valve. It has too much surface area and pressure pushing against it.

I will, i can open it by hitting it with a steel rod like this, and it releases a good amount of air already (it may not seem like that in the video because the sound echoed all around). The hammer I will make definitely will hit at least as hard as I did with a steel rod
