Update The video says 5 ingredients, but this busy mama confirms there are only THREE ingredients lol Grape juice, sugar, and pectin!!! ENJOY!!
This tutorial will walk you through how to make delicious grape jelly and how to can it using the water bath method!
RECIPE!!
3 cups grape juice
1 pkg powdered pectin
4 cups sugar
1. Combine the grape juice and pectin in a saucepan or pot and bring to a boil (use wisk to get rid of lumps)
* DO NOT ADD SUGAR until the jucie and pectin are at a rolling boil.
2. After the pecting/juice mixture is at a boil, stir in the sugar and bring back up to a full, rolling boil that cannot be stirred back down. Boil like this for 1 full minute.
3. Remove from heat and spoon off any foam from the top.
4. Ladel the jelly into your clean jars and screw the lids on tight.
Waterbath for 10-15 minutes (at a full boil). Let stand.

I have seen a lot of videos for making homemade jelly, and I believe yours is the best I have seen yet! You are clear, concise, friendly, and give me all the information that I need. This will be my first year making grape jelly. Mostly, I make jams. Thank you so much.

We grow champagne grapes (from my late father-in-law’s garden). They are delicious. And I am hoping to make grape jelly out of them. I hope it works out.

Add about a tablespoon of butter to your jelly after you add your pectin and you’ll have very little or no foam

@@harmonyhomestead5 butter can go rancid if canned for a long period but any neutral oil will act as a defoaming agent- just a smidge will do it!

Thank you for the heads up!! I went and looked at that and it looks like a break in the sugar and the black background of the pot/stove behind me. That said, we're almost done with the last of that batch and haven't come across anything undesireable mixed in our jelly (THANK GOD, LOL)! :) Thanks for looking out!!

Don't tip the jars after Canning them. And you can add a pat of butter to cut the foam

Oh no now I’m nervous.. I’m using Sure Jell pectin the recipe calls for 5 cups juice and 7 cups sugar.. it’s one more cup of sugar than you add. I would hate for this to not turn out…. I picked fresh grapes

I’d say follow one recipe from beginning to end. Either use my recipe or the other you are using with fresh grapes. The water bathing will be the same regardless of which recipe you use, though 😁😁
