Yes and it is a masterpiece, the level of detail is outstanding. Some of the situations made me feel anxious and it is fascinating to know what events happened in order to cause this catastrophe. Many people lost their lives to this and to avoid a major damage and that is what is the most important. Congratulations to the team for making this amazing series. Looking forward to what other stories they can tell.

@@vaahtobileet Thats not true. 'greatest television show' is a status give by people. You act as if it's objective, but it's subjective. The title only applies when enough people agree on it. Amusingly enough this exact concept - of truth not being absolute - is one that is touched on in the show.

As for settings it helped a lot that the place they shot most of the show, the town in Lithuania that was very similar town built for same kind of RBMK reactor workers. Both Pripyat and that town were built very similarly around same time by Soviets so Its great they actually had some real place to shoot in, instead of trying to recreate Pripyat with CGI. This series was thought provoking. This is film/documentary making at it's very best. I have been fascinated with Chernobyl to begin with, now I am doubly charmed - with all the stories, all the lives this has affected. I recorded the series, and have watched it 5 times already. The lessons and insight in this telling are important - to this generation, and all the ones to follow. This will be on my mind for a long time yet. I am researching and taking in any morsel of information that pertains to this - to nuclear energy - from the perspective of science, politics and the human heart. Thank you for the best documentary I have ever witnessed.

I love his character in this. The dynamic between him and Jared is brilliant. How he is unsure of this scientist and they end up both becoming close until the end. The final scene outside in Episode 5 was amazing and sad. But I just died laughing at the look Skellan gave Emilys character as he sat down, as she looked at him. That look he gave her cracked me up. His humour is hidden and well timed.

Possibly my favorite part of the series was watching the teamwork and eventual friendship between Legasov and Scherbina. I realize that it probably never happened in real life, but it was effective cinema. With that in mind, I looked forward to hearing the actors discuss the experience, and it did not disappoint.

HBO's strongest entry this year wasn't game of thrones...not even close. It was a five part miniseries detailing one of the most tragic disasters in human history. Chernobyl deserves to SWEEP the emmy's in every category, pure brilliance that restored my faith in TV being a creative medium and we can get high quality entertainment on the small screen.

Johan Renck: "I started reading everything I could come over" - that's Swinglish (Swedish and English mixed). In Swedish we say "Allt jag kunde komma över" (literally "All I could come over"), meaning "everything I could find". Fun to hear such an accomplished person talking Swinglish. But I understand he's nervous, I would be too.
