This thing is going to be stupid cool. My new favorite build.

Two good things about cantilever that most people ignore over the adjustability (which yeah, it's the main attraction). One, if you wreck that wheel, with a conventional setup, the shock would get trashed. Up there, tucked away, there's a good chance it will survive. Second, less the case here, it's a tube frame, but with regular builds, that means you'll have less space taken under the wheel well of a car, and that can give you a lot more space for tire. You see hundreds of tubs that go miles into the car with extensive modifications because nobody bothered to say "yo, put a cantilever" which instantly, magically saves you space. Depending on how you make it, you can have the tire occupy the full width of the well without any mods and still have suspension.

Beam front plus independent rear means inner tire lift. I approve of this cornering technique!!!!

Invest in right and left hand taps for your tie rods. Welding will sometimes shrink threads. You will never have to fight those again heim joints again.

Cantilever suspension is also useful at times where space is limited adjacent to the rim/control arms etc

@12:30 into the video putting the heim joint into the bung... DUH, you have the 'locking nut' down against the bung. Run the nut up to the spherical bearing side and it would go in MUCH easier. I mean really, wow....

For the material for the suspension pivot point could i recommended alumabronze. When I was at my last job (machinist) we would use it for anything we could fit a bearing into. worked great and lasted for quite a while even in higher speed applications. Just a heads up. And the material there doesnt look like its oilite, that just looks like either c3600 brass or some kind of light bronze. Edit: Hell for all i know that could even be alumabronze from the video of it

on the pushrod my bet is you got it too hot when welding and either distorted the threads or they got oxidized or both.

Keep the VW front beam for a bit, just so we can see some epic wheelies, then develop either a cantilever double wishbone front suspension, or copy DAX’s patented Camber Compensation and Anti Roll Supension System.

Sweet setup

The tie rod end might break on the weld . most fab guys drill a hole in the tubing before the put the rod end sleeve then filling the hole with the weld making the piece strong. Please don't get offended ok ...

Gotta put some anti-seize on those screws to keep them from galling like that. They basically weld together under that much force

Death by inability to steer with front wheels in the air. Since that's where they will tend to be, why not keep the beam. I know the shock is almost parallel to the tube it is mounted to, but you have it in the middle of the tube. I hope you'll be adding triangulation to the shock mount?

If it were I that cab would be pushed forward a foot just because the engine is quite close to your back.
