Nice Work! Pro Tip - Leave your boards long, when you dig your channels for the epoxy don't go all the way to the end of the board. When you cut your coasters, just cut off the ends. This will save you the step of having to tape the ends and will reduce the chance of a leak.

Way easier to route a slot down the middle & then go back over it & just move the piece a little bit left or right to make the curves. That takes forever, I did mine in about 5 minutes. Just an old guy here!!
@Aaakeith
@Aaakeith 4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean that you routed the slot, and then used his method to “mess up” the edges a bit more? Your way seems much easier
@UncleJoe1231
@UncleJoe1231 4 жыл бұрын
@@Aaakeith Yes, just be careful & make sure you go the right way with your router. I do it on a router table. I actually make my coasters 4X4 & use a 2-3/4 Forstner bit & drill about 1/4-3/8 " deep & then just pour epoxy into them. They aren't "river" but look really nice.

Hey man, nice vid, but just remember to wear proper protection when working with resin, the fumes it releases and the dust that flies out when sanding it are really dangerous if you're not protected. Keep up the good work !

If you make a template from fiberboard, and cut the "river" with a trimmer, especially since it is. That would be several times faster, and with a vacuum cleaner, also without dust. Nevertheless, my like 901th.

I've made cool coasters that I've cut out a shape & put an inlay piece in part of it. I have stained both pieces prior to gluing inlay in. I would like to now fill the void space with clear epoxy. How do I do that without sanding off the stain on the other parts? 😬. Would appreciate any suggestions, thanks
