Because, Carp as so hardy and tend to stay alive long enough to get home? Try, putting them in a container/ live well with clean fresh water for 2-3 days so that there meat tastes alot better after flushing out the fish! Your Welcome

Fascinating. The Mississippi and Missouri Rivers in the States have a terrible invasion oh jumping Asian Carp. Anything that will make them useable would be great!

Thanks! I've seen some footage of those Asian Carp in those rivers and it looks really bad. Fish leather is good, if you polish it it comes up really nice.

Gday Warwick. Good work mate🤙🏿😷. If you get a chance look at a Maggie Beer episode of the cook and the chef. She does a concise run down on preparing and cooking carp. The destructive buggers may well be a valuable resource. Cheers mate.

@@wozzasboomerang you have The absolute coolest name this side of The milkyway, "Warwick Naylor" , thats legendary right there son. Its Hard to live up to such name, you do it with a swag that make even Mick Dundee seem lame. Thanks for answer, put a big grin on my ugly mug. Ever digged for opals? Always dreamed about doing that, its The one and only gem i care for, nothing can compare.

@@JohanErikssonSWE Thanks for the compliment Johan, happy to help :) I have looked for opals in Coober Pedy as a teen and found small but pretty ones scattered around the old shafts. It was good fun.

Interesting. I usually eat up my carp and had no idea you can make its skin like that. So apart from obviously hat embellishment, what else do you use it for?
@wozzasboomerang
@wozzasboomerang 4 жыл бұрын
Because it's so thin and tough you can sew it and make all sorts of stuff out of it - bags, wallets, wrist bands, belts, etc. Have a look here if you're interested mermaidleather.com.au

I've never tried, but if you can skin it you can tan it. I think they have a fairly thin skin, but if you're careful bro you should be able to do it :)

Carp was commonly bred in communist countries for food because it was cheap to do. It's not that terrible if it hasn't swum in the mud.
