Me too, do you know of any good tile making educational resources?

You should do the cut off to have perfect corners and such. Great work

Did you cut them out immediately or did you wait until it was leather hard?
@claysquaredtoinfinity Жыл бұрын
Depending if the clay is wet or drier we cut them a little after we extrude them.

Were these bisque fired before they were glazed, or am I seeing a process Im unfamiliar with?
@claysquaredtoinfinity3 ай бұрын
We skip the bisque firing process for our tiles. We just have them dry out overnight.

That extruder machine is so cool! I’ve never seen something like that! And I love the shape of that cutter. Where did you purchase it?
@claysquaredtoinfinity4 ай бұрын
The extruder is from Peter Pugger. The cookie cutters can be purchased at Continental Clay

Hi amazing work! What did you paint them with before applying the glaze?
@claysquaredtoinfinity7 ай бұрын
Thanks. We apply the glaze directly to the unglazed tile. We use the once fire method
@faroutsider247 ай бұрын
awesome. it does look like you put a base coat of something before the glaze @@claysquaredtoinfinity
@claysquaredtoinfinity7 ай бұрын
It looks like that but it is just our terra cotta greenware. There are two different glazes we are using the Levie Patina as the field tile light blue and the Cosmic Cloud blend of colors that are the decorative. They are all once fired. @@faroutsider24

What temp and how long did you fire them for? I see you glazed them leather hard and not bisque. Thinking of making some for my bathroom
@claysquaredtoinfinity10 ай бұрын
We fire them at Cone 05. They tend to take around 8 hours for the firings.

@@claysquaredtoinfinity thanks so much for the reply. I am curious as to whether i could find that same cutter ( current plan is to attempt and 3d print it ). Any advice on that? Im considering making my own kitchen backsplash tiles: )

Bro you had so much excess material to cut more out of

I can’t exactly speak for the producer, but to see it seems like reprocessing into flat tiles is very easy because of the extruder- so if a section is wobbled or too thick/thin in a way that makes cutting difficult, it might make more sense to just work it all into a ball and use it in a future batch than it does to try and make it work for this current batch.
