Atlanta has become a dominant city in hip-hop, but ATL rapper Kenny Mason is doing things differently from his peers. His appropriately titled song "HIT" was the perfect introduction and set things off with a huge chorus and impressive technical rapping, and follow-up singles "Angelic Hoodrat" and "Metal Wings" showcase the young artist's versatility. Mason grew up idolizing Lil Wayne, but at the same time he was soaking up music by rock bands like the Pixies and Smashing Pumpkins. The combination of styles and influences has shaped Kenny Mason into one of the most compelling new artists in music, and he's leading the way for a new generation of ATL rappers not defined by trap.
We spent a day in Atlanta with Kenny Mason and his friends for the latest episode of Making It, produced in partnership with In The Know:
