These are rounded spine case bound books that turned out wonderfully. It's been over a year since I tried backing, and felt inspired to try again with my new backing boards. It was challenging without a lying press however. The covers are made with a variation of the 3 piece bradel binding method with commercial book cloth and chiyogami paper. I added cover decorations with stamp embossing. These may be some of the prettiest journals I've made!

Now, THAT is what I call a Labor of Love. A moving meditation. Although I am a book lover and have kept a journal for years, I don't know if I'd have the patience required to create something as beautiful as any one of these journal books. Great work!

You could always start with a much thinner book, just to feel the waters :) I have a beautiful cover to a old journal that I want to re-use, so this gave me plenty of help!

I’ve been binding a few sketchbooks, or more like notepads really. Very amateurish end results but a lot of fun. Never came a cross the french link stitch until now I also never tried to actually finish with a proper cover. This was an excellent and inspiring tutorial

Same! I've only had experience with the ginormous commercial version that hums with electricity when you use it. I've never seen a smaller, simpler one like this one. It's so dainty and quiet.

Wow so many ways to bind books. I have watch a couple of different videos by different people but i am totally mind blown how many steps are involved in making books. I am a book nerd and i have great pride in saying so. but how to make your own journals is something i will definitely try even once to say i did it would be a really cool thing for a book nerd to do. I have two miniature horses coming to my farm and i would love to make a book for each of them so i can write the daily habits and naughty behaviour and their exercising and playing in the paddock outside my house and their nightly routine the things these tiny horses do are so funny some times its nice to capture some of that for my Grand Daughters to keep. Thank you so much for showing me how to do something like this. I have subscribed to your channel The books made in this episode are stunning i love the oriental themed paper you used on both covers of the books i look forward to seeing more. This is truly a list art😞. I’m so happy I found your channel. I used to be an Account Manager in the printing industry and my Father was a pressman and Graphic Artist. He did EVERYTHING by hand in our small shop when I was young. I miss those days!!❤️❤️
