Making little tanto knife out from little chainsaw file for 1.5$, seppa and habaki made from brass, handle and sheath from hornbeam. There I try to show all steps how to make this knife in the video.

@@nuggetdealer2432, it is a Japanese ritual suicide in which two people are involved. The person committing suicide takes a Dai Katana(dagger) or other blade and guts themself. The other person, second(assistant), then beheads the person. It can also be done without a second. It is considered an honorable way to die. It's usually done when someone has brought great shame upon him/herself, family, organization. Saving face is one of the biggest things in Japanese culture. Another way to atone is to cut off your pinky and present it to the person whom you embarrassed.

I love that little edge profiling device you have, that's really smart and saves a lot of time and can prevent over edge profiling mistakes. Just super handy to have on hand.

Love that Stanley vise...had an old, used one..the rubber vise jaws fell apart...Stanley replaced them free of charge...I do my own gunsmithing work and they're worth twice their weight in gold...

You can buy them, just look up tanto envelope opener... but if you can’t afford one, make one yourself, all you need is some metal, sandpaper, and a file( not for the metal like this video shows but for actually shaping the metal)...

When I was a kid I remember a style of knife like that. Top of blade was a fish scaler. Both pieces would float if they fell in the water. It was a neat idea 50+ years ago.

As a tool and dye maker I have to say i love the square grinding fixture and the use of the 90 straight square then sine to get ur draft on the blade. Definitely know what you’re doing.

Excellent video process! There is a common misconception that making a small knife is easier but the reality is that you still have to go through all the processes and grinding small blades can actually be a little harder! Great work here man!

Nicely done Koss! That Hornbeam came out great and Nice fit too! Love it and been wanting another like this to match my Kikuichi Katana letter opener I got with my 270mm Yanagi. Have to give it a try. Thanks Much.

Very nice Koss! Simple but beautiful. I love all the miniature builds you've been doing. Any plans for a mini sword of omens from the Thundercats? That would be a challenging little build. I'm curious if you'd try to cast the guard or cut and file it out. Keep up the great builds!

С таким станочным парком можно изготавливать и более серьёзные вещи! А в принципе молодец! Всякая техника значительно облегчает труд и даёт возможность от этого получать удовлетворение!

Это да, без техники похожий нож у меня занял примерно часов 40 и получился не очень, а с техникой за пару часов такой можно было бы сделать...только один хрен получилось бы так же, вряд ли лучше, чем получилось) руки решают. А норм мастер, если ему по кайфу и на бордюре норм нож выпилит

I rarely comment but I don't get how someone can give this a thumbs down. This is an art and it takes skill to produce something like this (I mean, turning a plain file into a badass little knife - so cool!). I enjoyed watching this. Thanks for sharing.

I'm kind of tired with all these crazy damascus with gold stuff. It's amazing and the craftmanship is undoubtedly the best but it's very nice to see such a simple build like this that doesn't look flashy but still looks fantastic.

Probably because the steel is too hard and brittle to make a knife with. The dislikes are from people who know what they're doing.

@@shornandkenny I have a full size tanto made from 1095 high carbon steel are you saying it's garbage? Ka-Bar seems to think otherwise.

@@shornandkenny thinking about it a quality katana is made from 1095..... Oh yeah and a lot of other swords😉. All the dislikes came from the shop class safety police, it really chaps some people's asses when proper safety procedures are not followed.

Beautiful little knife. Very nice work. All i would recommend is a different finish for the wood. It looks dull. Also i would recommend putting your makers mark on it. Now that i have seen this video i'm going to try making something like it. Thank you for posting this video.
