idea: 'scrap' doll. reuse everything and anything you've discarded from other dolls! reuse some the best hair you've cut off other dolls for a rainbow of hair; a head from one, a body from another, refashion outfits, shoes, accessories...comparison before and after shots from the stack of 'parts' to the completed doll!

I think all you tubers should make it visible though. Like if you just wanna see the outcome you’re going to fast forward anyways, so let people who are super interested in the process click on the vid, and people who just wanna see the outcome can just look at the thumbnail.

Women during Marie-Antoinette's style would treat their hair similar to how we might treat a t-shirt, with some expressing personal experiences - pouf sentimental - including small models of babies and whole working fountains and gardens with flowers kept fresh and watered with tiny glass jars hidden in the curls. Powder was mostly gray, but also blue, pink, and lavender were popular, often scented with violet, orange flower, and so on. I found your channel via Novympia, and your creations are MAGNIFICENT. Marie-Antoinette is my favorite female figure from human history, and watching you work is just so inspiring.

I LOVE this historical character sooo much! You and your Mother do such a great job on all your collaboration's ! Not to be sad in anyway, but I just love to hear about you and your Mother working together, as I lost my Mother to cancer when she was 55 years old and I was 35. I have not had a single day since 1993 that I have not thought of her and had her in my heart. We both loved working on all kinds of projects together. I can hear that same love and respect I had for my Mother in your voice when you speak of your Mother's creation's. Bless you both and please cherish every day you have together. Great job on your fantastic Ms Marie Antoinette!!

I know a lot of people have heard the myth that women in the time period of Marie Antoinette wore tons of makeup that was toxic. However, that statement is not 100% true. Yes, white lead face makeup was a item used in some beauty regiments, but not most women. Your average women of the time didn't wear much makeup. Also, they knew the lead was toxic, is was even looked on as shameful to some. DISCLAIMER: This is a topic I have researched, but I am not a professor. This is simply me giving some of my knowledge to help others understand historical beauty. Feel free to research and find out more. I mean no disrespect with this, just clarifying a commonly confused fact.😊

Also, people didn’t wear wigs at the time (unless you were a part of the court). Water wasn’t often used for bathing, so people would use pomead and powder to clean their hair. This led to nearly white hair being common. They also sculpted their hair into the shapes we see.

Queen Victoria actually wore a lot of makeup that contained lead and even mercury! It's believed that the makeup completely destroyed her skin and even gave it a grey-ish hue. I don't remember everything that the makeup did to her face, but I saw a video about it.

As beautiful as it is - killer work on that hair, and your mom has magic hands, making such a wonderfully intricate dress in such a small scale - and having read through the comment looking to see if anyone else already made that comment, the fashion history nerd in me has to point out something about the support garment you've made for her. Marie Antoinette would be wearing (big) pocket hoops, which gives the skirt a rectangle shape when viewed from the front/back, flatter from the sides, and it's a fundamental aspect of this era's sillouette. What your mom made looks like a much earlier spanish farthingale, which gives a cone shape, but the higher hips makes me think she was trying to make a much, MUCH later victorian crinoline cage, that rounder "bell" shape; neither would be worn during Marie Antoinette's reign. The "rectangle hips" look is very bizarre to modern eyes, even I understand that, but the queen wouldn't be caught dead being so unfashionable. Still, I applaud the effort of making a whole separate undershirt for support. But if you ever want to make other historical dolls, I strongly encourage looking into the layers that made up the gowns of the period! Once we see how the layers work things just start making sense. The pocket hoops, for instance, are literally just giant pockets, worn under the skirt, and the skirt wouldn't be sewn all the way up on the sides to allow the woman to reach into the pockets! The history of fashion is a fascinating rabbit hole XD

The “beauty mark” is actually called a muchei ( I know I did not spell that right) they were popular with both men and women who used them to hide pock marks. Marie did not need to where the lead makeup as she was naturally very pale, and her hair was strawberry or ash blond.

IDEA FOR ANOTHER DOLL!!: Perhaps Mary Read or Anne Bonny (maybe both if you want a challenge)? Both were women in the late 1600s and early 1700s who would masquerade as men and were actually the most famed female pirates! It’s an interesting read but I think they would be very interesting historical figures to make as they make for an incredible read and fun research! I think their tale is less known in comparison to many others but they’re may favourite history gals and I’d love to see them in your style!! It would be really interesting if you did an assortment of pirates like Blackbeard and William Kidd as well but I would love to see the classic women’s duo! Of course if you decide to stick with one my vote is on Mary! (There’s a chance you won’t see this but I think it’s worth a shot.)

An answer for your question about MA’s hair color: as a girl, she had very light blonde hair but, after her first pregnancy, it became very grey and lost all of its blondiness. Useless fact about Marie Antoinette: the day after she was announced that her head would have been cut off, she woke up with her hair extremely white!! (This is called “the Marie Antoinette Syndrome). Marie Antoinette has always been my favorite “historical” character, and even if this doll isn’t *strictly historical*, it must be one of my favorites from you!!

It's a myth that Marie-Antoinette had very light blonde hair... it was actually Strawberry blonde, a brownish blonde with a reddish glow. It was something madame Du Barry (MA's enemy at court) made fun of: "la petite rousse" (the little redhead).

Your favorite version is a fictional version of the real woman. I'm that person who is so obsessed that I've traveled to France several times to go study her. She was far from a beauty in the real world, wasn't light blonde, didn't go white overnight, and she wasn't a selfish bitch as often described. She spent most of her discretionary money donating to the poor, and her ostentatious fashion was expected of her and was intended to convince people to buy more laces and silks made in France, and obviously the most used on one gown, the more would need to be bought. It wasn't her being selfish, but her trying to spark the economy.
@Author.Noelle.Alexandria
@Author.Noelle.Alexandria 4 жыл бұрын
@@zarkosilbaski2370 It wasn't because of democracy. The people of France only saw the figureheads. They didn't see the advisors behind closed doors who took advantage of such a young king and queen for their own purposes. Louis and Marie knew they were too young, so trusted who ended up turning out to be the wrong people. When the people had enough, they went after those they could see, and at first, they didn't intend to execute them, though Robespierre certainly was after Louis's blood. Only after the royal family escaped was it ultimately decided to depose of the king to prevent a successful escape and a rallying of the troops elsewhere to take France back from the people, and Marie followed. Her trial garnered tons of sympathy and other women were disgusted by accusations made against her. Yes, Marie was innocent. So was Louis. They were victims of a horrible situation that, to this day, is very often ignored. It's easier to think a couple tyrants were executed than a couple of innocent people who did the best they knew how and who were victims of their own advisors.

This is a beautiful repaint as always ..The patches were worn to cover pit marks in the skin as the powder they used damaged their skin ..If you need to do hair high like this again fashion the bits of fluff into little shapes like you can buy to puff up hair nowadays,they used hair collected from hairbrushes to make them with and they were called Rats ,they matched their own hair colour that way ,they used to wear hair pieces too..The style of the skirt Seoul’s have been oblong not round as they stuck out from the sides in this period some women had silly ones that were really wide.Every think you did for the dress goes with it bar the shape..have a look at vintage dresses when you do the next ,there are loads on here.Its something I have always been interested in.I have even made a velvet Medieval dress for someone I knew once ,very pretty too and heavy ..Stay safe 😀
