My neurologist said Alzheimer's starts with dementia and ends in Parkinson's-like symptoms, whereas Parkinson's starts with tremors and usually ends in dementia. Research into Lewy Body dementia for example, helps both. So it's fine!

@GerackSerack

At a glance, when the camera is panning over the painted knights, I can't see a single one with "incorrect" heraldry. The rules of heraldry kind of came naturally, so I guess if you follow "the rule of cool" 95% of your minis will end up following the rule of heraldry. Has to be said, too: those rules were codified well after the Middle Ages. During the time Bretonnia is inspired on, the rules were quite informal, to the point that ignoring them from time to time may even be "more correct" (if there is such a thing).
@soupalex
@soupalex 2 жыл бұрын
@@GerackSerack yes, and from what i recall of the heraldry section from the old brets army book, they did encourage you to experiment with colour combinations (and called attention to examples where they'd broken the rules themselves: e.g. yellow and black were supposedly not meant to be used together, as they were both "metals", but they do look good together and you could see that scheme used on several studio-painted models). still, i found the general guidelines-don't mix metals (yellow and white, sometimes black-"gold", "silver", and "iron") with colours (everything else)-pretty easy to grasp, and a great starting point for making up heraldry for your own knights
@XXLPIakat
@XXLPIakat Жыл бұрын
you first have to learn the rules of art before you should break them, same with heraldry. The Vatican uses Gold on Silver for example, but there it's a unique case due to its religious importance, so breaking the rules happened in real life as well.

I live in central Europe, there is 13th century castle-fortress on a dormant volcano about 7km from the city I live in. EVERY single village has it´s own heraldry and story that goes with it. I live in Pardubice, it´s heraldry is front half of the white horse on red field. Story goes when nobility was fleeing the city, the last one was riding on a white horse and the horse was cut in half by falling city gate. I come originaly from small village which has diagonaly cut heraldry, with wolf´s head in red field and a stork on a blue field, signifying the fact that the village was set up in the middle of the woods and was about keeping ponds and lakes with fish to supply the city. love the Brets army!

Great video, and what a beautiful paintjob on these classic minis ! By the way, French viewer here, "Gueules" is actually still a word used in French. It means "maw", or any animal's mouth for that matter, including human ones in vulgar or familiar interjections. You got the etymology right though, and the way you pronounce it sounds just like the old folks in some parts the french Breton countryside say it ("Goule") which is accidentally pretty appropriate for your army. Cheers !

I first learned about heraldry from an old issue of DRAGON Magazine (#275), which had two great articles about incorporating heraldry into a DnD game. The first being more loose and focused on broad strokes, allowing the reader to get to making flavorful heraldic devices quickly. The second being a more technical and comprehensive examination of heraldry as an academic field, for those wanting to be as exact as possible. While the latter can be very dry, there's a surprising amount of nuance that can be of interest. It illustrates aspect of heraldry you wouldn't even think to include. Such as the idea that a ladder as a symbol can denote bravery, because you have to be very ballsy to climb a siege ladder. Or how technically the same heraldic device cannot be used exactly by different members of a family (unlike in modern day, heraldic symbols back in the day were individual). Thus requiring a knight's many sons to bear slightly modified heraldry, with symbols added that denote which number of son they were (only the heir inherited the heraldic device itself upon his father's death).
