100% :) in my experience most babies are ethnically ambiguous! (And most people! Everyone asks where my fiancé is from because they can tell he's mixed with something but noone guesses immediately)

U think so ? Most black babies come out lighter but light skin doesn't mean mixed I'm light skinned I'm also not mixed

@@ItsTifahTifah …and that’s why I say racially ambiguous. My children were all light skinned with straight black or dark brown hair…One of my sons was white with straight black hair. The lady next to me in the hospital didn’t know what to think as my son’s father and myself were very dark skinned… Another of my sons looked East Indian. The baby she made could be “Black” American, Native American, South American, South Asian, Middle Eastern, African, Etc. … therefore, Racially Ambiguous. She is whatever you want her to be or not be. There’s nothing wrong with that.

I think its mostly the hair texture thst mskes her look more Indian. Hone straight ​@@ItsTifahTifah

Yes I have different sculpts I'm about to paint (I show them in a recent video) which have different features :)

Love the idea! I'd suggest he donate it to somewhere that makes wigs ❤️ we don't use human hair generally as it is much thicker than alpaca/mohair, and doesn't sit will on baby heads. It can work for toddlers but you need quite a lot of it!

She looks like most of the Black babies. Many are lighter than the doll and darken over time. That being said, she can be considered Black, Indian or mixed. 😊

I don't name the dolls :) the sculptors name the sculpts and as an artist I always advertise it as the named sculpt

Most people just collect for fun, some people use them for therapy, for autism, dementia, child loss, or because their kids have grown up and they miss babies! I'm autistic and dolls are my special interest :) people often assume I've dealt with some kind of trauma to want these, but that's not the case, most people who collect these do it because they appreciate the artwork

The issue with black hair is that the dye can often come off when you're styling the hair and dye the head, so most reborn artists are very cautious when using black hair or don't use it at all.

@@rebornsofjess ohh. Can’t you use real hair? Like from a real authentic wig/weave? And then thread it into the babies head? … the hair not being black on a colored baby is going to make it not look right.

The issue with black mohair/alpaca is that the dye often comes off when wet and can dye the head/ruin the doll, which is why a lot of reborn artists are very cautious about using black hair or don't use it at all. The hair I used was the darkest I could get without using jet black and risking it.

The term 'reborn' came about from the start of this craft, when artists took store bought dolls and repainted them, and so they were 'reborned' - hence these are now called reborns.

I haven't been able to find curly mohair and even if I did, I've never rooted curly hair so I'm not sure how it would come out. It's very rare to find a curly hair reborn. When I looked up black babies on Google most of the newborn ones showed as having straight hair anyway so I didn't think it was an issue, but clearly is for some. I'll put your name down though if you're interested in purchasing a curly hair one :)
