I-...The new trees look nice but I really liked the old ones, too..... That's not to say I think you should have kept them, especially if you prefer the new ones, but still, the old trees were nice, too. They gave off a gba feel. I'm actually reminded of Bomberman Tournament specifically.

Adding to this. I think a variety of trees (mix the old and new) will make the world look organic.

biggest change i liked is that the trees aren't repeating in a grid like way, they feel more randomly placed which is how trees work in real life

I feel like moving the placement of the trees also really helped everything look more natural, as well as the changes made to the sprites. The more "randomly" placed trees feels a lot more organic than the perfect rows of the first iteration ❤

It still looks bad but that is only because it is pixel art and not because it is your art skill. Pixel art in general isn't supposed to look good.
