One thing I’ve learned thru these videos is to never question Chris’s maintenance on his equipment! His equipment is showroom ready!!!
@crandonborth
@crandonborth Ай бұрын
Right!! His excavators are mostly used for clearing in the woods and yet they have no big scratches on them. Most used excavators have most of the paint missing on the counterweight by the time they are only a few years old.

Chris cares for his equipment. They are his source of income. Some other owner/ operators don't care they say it doesn't matter as long as they are making money with them, but it does matter people look at the equipment that someone's going to do the job at there house and if they show up with a peace of crap excavator all scratched up and clanking along. They will look for another company to do the work.

@@garymurt9112my take from watching what Chris was dealing with is that, using one or two guys on the ground with portable rebar cutters to cut the rebar sticking out of the concrete pieces would have made the crusher job more efficient. No excess rebar to jam up the crusher. This was not the first time Chris has crushed concrete. The YT algorithm put one in my feed from 3 yrs ago. He needed more grunts on the ground for that kind of help.

I recall old films showing land clearing with two dozers and a massive chain towed by them both to clear large tracts of brush and trees , you could do that and then go back with a scarifier or such thing to get all the roots on big jobs like this that individual tree removal with an Excvtr is just slow at.

I agree. Once, we had contracted on a house not quite finished that had a very wide buffer of mixed vegetation giving us the privacy we wanted. Then without our consent or knowledge, the bulldozer wiped it all out, leaving us to deal with the backyards of several neighbors with their sheds, chicken coups, trash, untagged cars, dog lots, etc. Never like living there after that. It should have been our decision to clear it since money had changed hands.

At least, now, you'll have a pretty good idea of how you would bid a rock crushing job (nightmare) in the event that you kinda get cornered into needing to do that if ever again. One thing's for sure. You won't forget the agony of it all. The physical agony as well as the mental part. I felt for you throughout that entire crusade. I'll say one thing for sure. You handled it like a pro. I'm proud of you. You have never let me down. Your resiliency is off the chart.

I like how you are leaving naturally germinated trees and not those that produce suckeres from a cut tree stump. Most do not know, but trees that regrow from a clearcut are almost all hollow at the bottom, and it progresses as it grows. This is due to the stump being encapsulated along with other suckeres dying off due to competition. You never have to worry about pines, though, once cut they do not regrow from the stump. This is for the followers.

Have you considered adding a few cordless tools to your fuel trailer inventory. WORX makes a small power cleaner that can be attached to a garden hose or it has another hose with a water pickup that you could drop into a 2.5g camping water jug to clean windows etc. They also have a small chain saw that could cut up longer trees etc, and they also offer a leaf blower which is useful too to provide draft when starting a fire. As they are cordless you would not need to carry, gas and two stroke oil etc. Thanks for the videos....

Kinda makes me chuckle that people think Chris would let any of his equipment go unmaintained to where it sounds loose, especially if it's long time viewers of his channel. Closest he ever came to doing that was when he and his uncle were doing that veterinary hospital moving all that rock. That time he waited until the job was done so it wouldn't ruin newly installed pins and bushings. Besides, that was the 220 John owns and not equipment Chris himself actually owns. Chris maintains his equipment very well.
