Some (hopefully helpful) advice for the next time you work for epoxy sculpt: I work in layers when I'm working with it! So I'll make something, wait for it to harden up and then sculpt on top of that! BONUS! Waiting a bit for epoxy sculpt to harden up (but not COMPLETELY dry and hardened!) You can do more detailed sculpting! So if you ever sculpt a teeny tiny face ever again, make the base of the head, wait for that to harden, and then add the facial features so you don't end up smooshing it! THAT ALL BEING SAID: this turned out SO CUTE and now you got me wanting to sculpt tiny art nouveau women 😂

That way it’ll be much easier to accurately measure and will therefore hopefully mean the curing process is perfect each time. Aluminum foil works great to bulk out armatures for projects like these, and with clay that needs to be baked. Bonus hack: if you're sculpting a figure with a long skirt, you can totally skip sculpting the legs underneath. Just bulk out the shape with foil and lay sheets of clay on top like fabric.

a little bit too late but as a sculptor myself i would recommend not only to mix epoxy sculpt making two snakes and twisting them together like a DNA (it's WAAAY easier to blend them doing this way), but also to use cold porcelain when you need to imitate fabric. this material is used in artificial floral art and it's very elastic and can be rolled to a very thin layer! p.s. i love your channel and your chaotic energy and your art so much, you inspire me to keep doing my own stuff

I'm so obsessed with art nouveau lamps as well!! I'm always saying "If it's not made of bronze and stained glass & shaped like a plant or animal, I don't need it in my house." This was awesome!

I am SO GLAD I’m not the only one who whispers to myself when crafting. I am making a dress from a vintage pattern in my “sewing room,” which is also where my 15yo son’s computer is located. He sits doing Spanish while I mutter to myself. Every once in a while he just kind of gives me the side eye. But seriously - turning lined bodices is always an adventure to me. When it works I’m GOING to whisper yell “YES!” 😂

SO LOVELY!!!! Also! You can always start with some apoxie sculpt for the face and let that cure then add onto it (and/or also use some exacto blades, carving and sanding tools on it after it cures!) This was a wonderful project! loved every second of it!

My current "Make" project isn't exactly a make. My dad has asked me to repaint his vast collection of lawn gnomes. I paint with acrylic. He brought me spray paint, which makes sense. It's going in the yard. I'm finding it really interesting to mix colors. My arms look like a kaleidoscope each day when I get done, but when you get that perfect rosy pink flesh tone out of a few sprays of pink and yellow and just a spritz of white... *chef's kiss*. It makes me happy. The project is going to take me forever, but atm I've got that creative drive to do it. I just hope it lasts me 25+ some odd gnomes and other figurines before the weather breaks or I burn out.

I’ve retouched some of my grandmother’s garden decor, including some gnomes. I just used acrylic then sprayed a sealer over after the paint dried.

That would also be a great idea for Rachel to do. To make a garden gnome creature for in her garden.

You did a fabulous job sculpting with a very difficult medium. I use epoxy sculpt for doll modifications, the best part is because it responds so well to carving after the fact. That you were able to get as much detail in the face as you did, without carving and sanding after, is super impressive.

My advice about the apoxie sculpt and smooshy face issues: Mix up smaller amounts at once, and do the base layer first, and let it harden, and build more on top of it with fresh clay. If you do have parts where you added too much, it can be sanded, carved, cut, or filed away. If the bit of clay you're working with at any given time is too smooshy, walk away for 10 minutes and come back when it's firmed up a bit. (but don't forget about it hahaha don't ask how I know)

not saying that i clicked on this video thinking i would see a life size cosplay of a lamp, but i did click thinking Rachel was going to make herself, her human physical being, into a lamp. why? because why not? all jokes aside, the end product was really pretty, rachel never fails to impress me with her many talents and wonderful brain.

I'm amazed at how creative you've managed to stay and how diverse your video topics are. I love when you bring new things to the channel, from a little felt frog boi to making costumes for your dog to a near perfect recreation of a movie dress to making/remaking furniture pieces, to... turning yourself into furniture pieces? It's such a bright spot in my week!❤

This turned out wayyyy better than I would have expected. Scultping this level of detail is harrrrrd. I was wondering if you could bypass the whole sculpting process by taking an old barbie, making her they way you want the result to look (curl her hair, glue fabric to her to make the dress) and soak the whole thing in spray glue to make it hard. Then plastidip, then paint. I think I will try that myself at some point in the future when I am in dire need of a vintage lamp.

This has brought me so SO much joy! I agree that art nouveau lamps have something so scrumptious to them! NGL, when I saw you couldn't find your measuring instruments, I thought you were going to pull a Micarah Tewers and make up your own XD Even though you didn't do that or dress up as a lamp, this was still one of most enjoyable to watch videos you've done in a long time! And the thing that made it the most enjoyable was seeing your excitement as you made it! I'm so happy this went smoothly and that you're happy with the final product! (which is SO whimsical, I love it!) now *I* want to cosplay as a tiny lamp lady with a glowing flower lighting my way!

For sculpting, you can take tinfoil to build up the structure and you can also use smaller wire to make the head and fingers. I think the channel is AceSculpting, or something to that akin, and he’s a really phenomenal sculptor and his videos are easy and simple to follow!!
