This making of was based on the tutorial from Steven Knipping. Thanks for great course from AppliedHoudini.
In this episode, i'll show you how to deal with particles advect by velocity volume. Rendering particles in Redshift Houdini. Making emission particles with coloring.

Thanks for this video, its good to see some people wanting to help others. I got a question, how would you go about have more than two ramps for the colour wrangle. The lerp expression only asks for only two variables and the bias variable. so if i wanted another ramp, do you know of an expression that would do the same as the lerp but with an additional variable.

this looks great! I am having trouble figuring out why my particles are not flowing along. they just stick in one place and I cant figure out why. when you move out of the wrangle node calc bias, yours seem to pick up velocity, mine just stick at one place. any help is appreciated! keep up the great work!

Hey man! Awesome tutorial...could you explain again hwo you managed to make some particles glow? Do i need to setup the OCIO config for them to emit light?
@cgknight6349
@cgknight6349 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks bro. To make those particles glow, you have to separate them in AOVs by adding Emission pass. Then shuffle it inside Nuke and make it glow as usual. I already showed it in the video.

You only set up bloom and exposure in the renderview for preview purposes right? Rendering in ACES disables both at the output as far as I'm aware. lso how come you didn't need to render a beauty pass?

@@cgknight6349 Thanks a lot. One last question, how come that your particle birthrate is only '1' but you seem to have millions of particles? the 'scale point count by area' only reduces point count in my case, possibly I'm on a different version than you? (V18)

@ 6:00 not an expression. It's keyframed from 0 - 1- 1 - 0. Look down at the timeline. @ 7:00 that curve happens when you do what I wrote above. @ 9:46 on the wrangle node click the cogwheel and "edit paramter interface". On the right side select "color1" and "color2" and change the "ramp type" to COLOR. You seem kinda new to Houdini, I think you should first get trusted with the basics before doing this.
@EugeneLlorens
@EugeneLlorens 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Magma! i think that in the minute 5:00 the plane you see is because you connect "density" parameter to the vectortovector4 and you should connect Possition to vectortovector4 and density to the volume output. I hope this helps =)

Hi DevRoot, thank you for the comment. Please read the description of the video for the answer. Regarding to "leak" this is what i think. We've learned a lot from Steven, because in his tutorial, he explained everything that we need to know. That's why we pay for it, we pay for learning from basic to advance. My video just a making of with Redshift setting . Why don't we have right to share that with everybody? Is that a techique that no one can't use it except when they buy that tutorial?
