I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this German production. We all should keep an eye now on German movie production news. Germans can beat Hollywood. Devrim Lingnau is absolutely charming, great acting. Wow.

Everything about The Empress was terrific, exciting... I loved it... Thanks to the perfect actors (perfect to me) to get across what was going on during that era. The main characters seemed to work really well together. Netflix, I want more as well produced as TheEmpress... Beautiful costumes and such bold colors... This movie kept me watching and replaying several more times. I'm American and found the cast extraordinary... especially in all those tight costumes and costume changes😳. I've also learned more German this week.

The costumes are beautiful and reminds me of Jacqueline Durran's work for Anna Karenina (2012) with its modern, haute couture feel. It certainly adds color and freshness that makes it more relatable to modern audiences. While I would have preferred a more historically accurate costumes, the approach is understandable. Personally, Sisi's dancing lesson and wedding dress are my favorites.

Film as an art , gives us a license to create magic on the screen and great actors recreate that magic by their chemistry talent and personalities . This is for every director must be a guiding tool . Story line and chemistry on the screen between personalities plus dialogue plus great production values and , that we as viewers want to be part of

The costumes are beautiful but feel like watching "Reign" on the CW. I mean the accuracy of the story is already limited and the costumes are pretty much made up as well. That wedding dress is completely modern as well as the majority of the dressed Sisi is wearing.

Too bad the costume are not historically accurate.

And whats her achievement as an Empress … I watched full season and it feels like she is playing secondary role in it .. Big title, nicely filmed, but what was you trying to show about her…? Love to ordinary folks?

Why did Netflix cast such an old looking woman to portray the young Empress Sissi? That actress looks like she’s 40.
