Well done, April! It can't have been easy for you, but you show such respect for your mother-in-law's taste and have made her a beautiful, comfortable home - neat and tidy yet lived in.Some make-overs look great, but you wouldn't dare sit down and put your feet up in them!

This was a great series! I love your MIL's taste in her collections and antiques and how you were able to fit it into the makeover. Shopping from what we already love and own and to display it in a new way is so satisfying. I would for sure love to live in that house.

I really like how this home truly reflects your MIL and things that are special to her. It’s so lovely. I like her taste, she has some beautiful pieces! It’s SO refreshing to see this instead of the generic grey and white and homes that all start to have the same aesthetic we’ve been seeing the past 10 years. Great job!

April….This video was worth the wait! I agree about adding the half bath. It’s beautiful, convenient for your family, and adds $$$ value if and when they decide to sell. I forgot about the sink in that bathroom. Love it!! I was looking at buying a couple of rugs from Ruggable, because I have grandkids and pets. Might reconsider that. You might not contact them, but they will probably get in touch with you. 😄I think the house looks amazing! Thank your mother in law for allowing us this peek into her home.

One thing I learned in hunting for a new bathmat myself is -you can have nonslip and you can have washable but you can’t have both 😂 the nonslip part on the back is what makes it go all stiff and wrinkly in the washer.

To clarify, it's considered a kitchen mat, but it's not one of those thick squishy kitchen mats. It's more flat and has a soft "tooth" to the touch. Patterns I've seen are not kitchen-specific and my mom uses hers in the bathroom.

I've learned so much about decluttering and using what I have through all your makeovers! The piece that still really intimidates me is the DIY part -- I know next to nothing about painting, replacing doorknobs, hanging shelves, etc...It would be helpful if you did a miniseries on tips and tricks you've found for DIY, esp on a budget / with limited tools!

This kind of decorating is normal over a certain age. Before buying all at once on credit was popular, people brought from their parents furniture and then added when affordable. This is my house which includes pieces from my parents and grandparents which are better quality and some that they actually created. Thanks showing how to add to loved items.

Wow it looks so good! What a big difference! So much calmer than it was before! I like what you did adding the flowers, I think greenery in a house always makes it look more finished and lived in…… although I have a slight plant obsession (nearly 50 plants in a 2 bed flat……. But I don’t really have ornaments, so I think it’s not to crazy!)

I like your mix of fake and real greenery. Some fakes can look tacky, but you did a good job with your choices. I always opt for real plants, but some spaces they just aren't practical. I agree with Ruggable. I have a number of clients that have them, and I am just not a fan. They dont hold up. And most do not wash well in standard washing machines. Truthfully I am not a huge fan of rubber backed rugs overall. She needs to watch her pets. They tend to pee on the rubberized rubs, something about the smell. For Bathrooms I prefer the solid cotton bath mats, kitchens the gel filled mats and entry's, an inexpensive low pile rug that can be pressure washed or replaced as needed. This transformation was beautiful.

I've followed this series religiously, April, and enjoyed every aspect. Most were heavy on the Doing and creative aspects which amazed. I bow to your energy, enthusiasm and talent. This one is wonderfully heavy on the Done, and I relished seeing it all come together. What a truly happy ending, Ruggable aside. Seeing everything in place...the vision realized. I admire the way you worked with your mother-in-law, in particular, to feature her loves, passions and treasures while helping make their home distinctly reflect who they both are. A showcase for her style and taste that's eminently livable...and a dedicated studio to-boot. Nothing was sacrificed, everything gained in the process. I'd give it two thumbs-up if I could. (Your folks' project as well.) Your families' faith and trust were remarkable...it's family, after all, so that's no mean feat. A testament to your skills as a professional who listens, translates, and executes. Thanks to your in-laws for allowing us in throughout. Thanks to you in particular though for taking us along on the journey, and my very best wishes as you take flight again...looking forward to your next chapters. See you when you land!
