Hey guys! I'm Alexandra Gater and I show you how to do rental-friendly upgrades and DIY projects on a budget. Today I am making over my living room (again), hopefully for the last time! My favorite part of this video was hearing the pink sofa would be going to a family in need. Well done, Alexandra. Please consider a rug pad under the pretty rug. If you leave as is, it is of course a tripping hazard, but coupled with the fabric of the couch, its just too much slouching. The smoothness of the rug with a pad, will elevate the sofa, regardless of the slouch. Curious, do your feet touch the floor when you sit back on the couch?

Just a lil tip... A designer is NEVER finished with their home! And, I'm very happy you kept that precious birdcage chandelier! It just says, welcome to Alexandras home ; ). It's like your lil signature piece, & I think you should always keep it.😊

That looks so good! The symmetry of the cord covers, to me, mean they don't interfere with the look of the moulding at all - it all just looks deliberate and works really well.

Another great refresh/revision. For me, the placement of the L-shaped cord lends a funky, geometric aspect to the molding, which is more traditional. It works for me! Smart and creative, as always. BTW, Lottie is adorbs (and tolerant, lol).

I have got to say that your videos of you redecorating your own apartment are my favorites. I rewatch them all the time. It’s okay if you make a decision you don’t like. Just make another decision! My primary thought about this makeover - I’m stunned at just how chill Lottie is compared to my maniacs! I’ve got two Maine Coons who are just over a year old, and now I look at every decor decision with an eye to how my cats would react to it 😄 That string of hearts would be ON THE FLOOR in two seconds flat (which would be a tragedy), and I’m pretty sure the bird light would absolutely torment them as they plotted ways to reach it and hunt down those damn birdies 😹 My dining area is currently more of a junk zone, right next to the kitchen and where my new massively tall fridge-freezer lives… and the top of it doubles as a cat perch/bed (I had the perfect sized square cushion for it that I’ve had ever since before I went to uni 20 years ago, which is incredible/a sign of my true hoarder status 🙃) There’s a short little basic pendant light cord (with no shade) coming out of the ceiling, and it initially had a bulb in it… but my cats decided this whole thing was actually their punching bag now they can reach it from on top of the fridge 😹 Also - the bench stain colour is *perfect*! 😍

It's YOUR space. There will always be folks who don't share your aesthetic vision, thats ok. Its good to have different opinions in play, it helps us expand our vision. Your channel may be aimed at small space renters but the generally theconcepts work in any space. We lost our home to fire last year and are just at the place of unpacking the storage unit and deciding what stays and goes. The benefit is I can shop what I already own to start making our new small house our home. Thank you.

This space is so beautiful, inviting, sofisticated but still with a touch of your personality ❤ I love everything in it. I even think the cords go with the mounding because it's sort of geometric. Personally, not nearly enough colour for me, but the important thing is that you love it! Love the natural wood and modifications to your TV bench.I am not a fan of the mouldings, only in that they collect dust. Used to live in a cool place with gorgeous period picture rails that I loved, but I was a slave to dusting them. My current place has very clean walls and so much less work to keep dust free. Love your videos and always enjoy seeing what's next!

I love your makeovers off your own space cuz you reuse things you already own and love and just find new ways to design around them, ie the bird light. I’ve gotten to a point in my life where even though I move apartments most of my furniture stayed the same cuz I’ve built it with things I love over time, I think that’s the true mark of finding your style

To solve the renter friendly electric cord hiding and still have your molding. Either a wall build out or maybe the molding panels with the cords behind a build out at the panels to hide the cord straight down to electrical outlet . “Design your space “ has some renter friendly hacks using lightweight materials to build out a shallow wall.

I love the peel and stick moulding, but it’s quite expensive for me. A whole wall is gonna be $900 Australian dollars to do. Looks gorgeous though.

i really wish that there was more of a focus on sustainable decor in your videos rather than ordering new things from companies with horrific human rights violations like h&m. Vintage items/thrifted items/pieces from places like facebook marketplace can be found that will fit any style and don't contribute to overconsumption and waste.

Love it! Much more sophisticated. I didn't say it last time but for me, that huge window with the red arch above is still begging to be a focal point. I'm picturing some beautiful fabric curtains to frame the window and some bench seating with books below that will make this a cozy place to read.

The pink sofa was pretty, the new one is plain and ugly no matter how you style it, it will have no character, and it looks like an ill fitted bed with cushions that are way too big. Take it back. .

I love the bird light in the living room. It really makes the space complete especially with the natural light. Amazing job on the bench color graham! This is a whole airy mood and im here for it! Lol.

Love, love this, Alexandra. The bench now goes better with the framed tv; the flooring and the dining table. Love the "paneling on the tv wall" - wow what a difference it made! The lighting; the chair and couch - goodness gracious, great balls of fire!! IMHO - you nailed it! God bless you and yours!!

Love the trim on the wall! What if you made the wires from the sconces blend more by adding trim to the horizontal part of the wire to make a square and then adding a line of trim below to create a square. So now the rectangles flanking the tv become two squares on each side of the tv. Not sure if it would look good but it’s worth a try so that the wires blend in more. 😊

Such a gorgeous makeover! I think the cord covers make the stick on moulding look unique. I love that Lottie was feeling cozy on the new couch and chair, does she really sleep on her kitty cushion :) Noah's reaction was so sweet, most men only care about comfort. I love your enthusiasm when doing a makeover, and your joy when its done, you truly care about others. I believe you'd do these makeovers for others even if you didn't film them for your channel because you truly care. Cheers young lady, keep up the great work!

l love seeing how your living rooms in both homes have changed over the last few years. I completely understand. I spend so much time in my living room that I always have to edit to my needs (and for my dog and cat's comfort) as things change.
