FYI you can do this with 2 car batteries in series, so 24v. my welder is only 18v at 200 amps, 2 car batteries will put out about the same power 👍As for the BB's, i got them from ebay. search "steel shot blasting". Mine were size s460, about 1mm. I also got the Silicon Bronze from ebay, but it can be pretty expensive. Wisconson Wire Works also sells it for around $6.90 a pound. But you can find broken rolls on eBay for really cheap sometimes. I was using 3/8 carbon gouging rods as electrodes to melt the bb's. Steel or copper would just fuse to the sculpture. As for the batteries you would wire them on series for 24V. If that's not enough get another one or two. You can get used batteries for cheap at junkyards. Like $30 each. You need heavy duty wire rated for 200 amps. Positive on top or bottom doesnt matter. It won't work as well as the welder because the welder has a high voltage start that helps it start an arc at longer distances. You would want to stick both ends in the bb's, THEN connect the wire to power.. It would be a bad idea to just connect the wire in your hand directly to the battery terminal, it will spark and vaporize lead with every strike. You would be better off connecting a short length of wire to the battery terminal and using that to complete the circuit. And instead of just touching the two wires togeather you would want to find a way to securely connect them, and remember you are moving a lot of current so the connections need to be robust, the thinnest part will control how much current flows.

I was a seasonal worker for a rubber works factory when I was 19. We mostly used the metal shot in large high pressure hoses. Looked a lot like a fireman's hose on a hydrolic arm. It rips clothes and can pierce skin but it had never hurt me that bad. The helmet it came with had an air flow into the mask but I don't think it had an exhaust so it was suffocating

_TBS, You should try this with the MIG Wire bits and Glass Beads like they use in glass bead blasting. You could experiment with different colored beads and sizes. If it works the light will diffract through the glass. You might even be able to illuminate it through the base with LED's._

I did this with the sand at the ship yard and those same exact bbs you had all the time in ship yard qith a arc gouging rod and my stick welding lines lol it looked so cool and helpers who was like 18 had no clue how or even why it did that lmao I was 21 at the time and was a first class fitter for 5 years there but we did all kinds of cool things with electricity and welding machines just playing around when not super busy

Dado (DAY-doe). For those playing along at home; its like a wide table saw blade for cutting a wide grove, or dado, into a piece of wood. Comes with several blade sections and shims to get you anywhere from 1/8” to ~1” cut.

When I was about 12, I hit a mailbox on my bike that was overhanging the sidewalk. The worse part was that it was near the bottom of a huge hill and I was kind of racing with friends so I was going very fast. I got thrown quite a way and ended up with a lot of scapes and a huge knot on my arm that I at first thought was the bone sticking out. It was terrible.
