The flower arrangements in the opaque vases are using flower frogs to give them that wild whimsical look, you need something to hold the stems in place in these types of flower arrangements. I usually use opaque vases and chicken wire as a support nest to make big arrangements. Check out Millie Proust for some inspiration she tells you how to do it as well

As a former florist, i definitely recommend investing in clear floral tape and creating a grid on the top of your containers! It will help the flowers sit and stay where you want them

You can remove some of the heft from that first set of flowers. They will look more open and whimsical if you take apart the bunch. They should start to “grow” and do their thing after several hours.

My favorite combo is Dahlias, foxglove, fern, lilies, yarrow, dusty miller, and sunflower.

Flower frogs,chicken wire, and tape grids will help a ton! Some of those pictures use floral foam as well however there’s a healthier alternative called an Oshun pouch that can be bought online and used for some of those Pinterest center pieces.

I think in a wide vase (not a narrow pitcher) it would have looked like your Pinterest examples. Flowers looked well selected.

Really pretty, maybe use the tape method. Make a grid with scotch tape like tic-tac-toe and it helps to hold the flowers in place! 💐

I can confirm this trick is super handy for new florists or for folks who sometimes have issues with their base grid. I wish I had known it back when I started, it would have made things a lot easier lol

Try using floral foam or chicken wire within an opaque vase or pot to have more control over how things sit! It’s hard to get the varying heights/directions you see in your Pinterest inspo without it :)

Cut them at different lengths. Also use a less wide vase opening and try making a grid on your vase top with strong thin tape

My mom used to be a hobby florist and you reminded me that she used have like this dried floral wall hanging above the bathroom door with eucalyptus in kind of like wide V shape and dried flowers at the bottom the V with like lavender and calendula and roses and baby's breath :)

Try using rubber bands across the lip of the vase, making a grid pattern with 2-4 rubber bands. They will keep the flowers upright while you arrange and they won't slip.

Try taping your vase, it'll help give you some of the flexibility with height and placement you need to make those crazy asymmetrical pieces. That and playing around with the size of your accent flowers can help it look more dynamic!!

For the love. It's been three weeks. She replied to people in TikTok comments. In summary: Her dad loves it and is hanging them up in his bar. He wants her to do something with his swizzle stick collection next. She only used selected matchbooks (& boxes) approved by her dad ahead of time. She used an acid-free glue that will dissolve with just a bit of ethanol on a q-tip (which won't harm the paper because of its quick evaporation) and glued them onto a linen -- not paper -- backing, to protect against the risk of pulling off any of the matchbook paper when they're removed from the display.

Try taping a grid at the top of the vase using oasis tape. Going across the top leaving just enough on the sides to then tape down all the edges. It should get hidden by your greens but you can still see the stems in the vase :) Tree fern is also great for adding support to the flowers while keeping that whimsical look!

Looks so cute! If you take clear tape you can tape across the opening in like a checkered pattern it helps to give your stems some support and the whole look more structure because everything isn't just flopping to one side.

Consider the color tones and variations in the greens of the flowers too; using flowers that have dissimilar color buds but multiple tints and shades of the same color green will blend better visually than arrangements that do not. For me this arrangement is thrown by the cooler blue-green tones of the eucalyptus and the brighter yellow-green of the yellow weedy flowers, but the shape and variations of the flowers themselves are lovely and whimsical

They use flower foam and chicken wire. That way they can sent them in something that will hold it. They cover the foam with marbles or pebbles or sand. And you don’t see the chicken wire. So you don’t see the steams or bottom of the stems because of that.

That is pretty, placing clear tape across the top of the vase in a criss cross can hold them up more, or use a clear glass vase frog.

Try using chicken wire as a floral frog it makes they much more spread out and very beautiful and it’s a sustainable floral frog option as well😎

Practice makes perfect! The more you put an arrangement together, the easier it will be. Also, some flowers are easier to work with than others. Try different color arrangements. The possibilities are endless!

Just a tip for cutting the flowers try not to use scissors as it can crush the stems and make it hard for the flowers to drink the water. I recommend a straight edged knife or shears. Also the straws on the Gerbera daisies help keep them straight up cause they tend to flip over.

The flowers aren't the problem, the lengths of the stems are. Next time try cutting them different lengths like small flowers (wild flowers) can have taller stems and the bigger flowers can have smaller length of stems. I'm no expert but I think it'll work. Ofc try getting a lot of colours too! :)

Ok your arrangement was very pretty, but in my opinion, it's got too many flowers. The pictures you had as inspiration are airy with lots of negative space, yours is dense. Keep trying you'll get it. I use branches and wild flowers that I forage lol. They last longer too.
