(This is not the recipe used in the video but is one that I love. Our regular line of soaps do not contain palm oil. If you you want a palm free recipe, play around with adding more butters and/or olive oil.)
30% Lye Concentration
6% Super Fat
40% Olive Oil
20% Coconut Oil
10% Palm Oil (I look for Palm that is certified by Palm Done Right)
10% Rice Bran Oil
10% Castor Oil
10% Cocoa Butter
1tsp ppo* Sodium Lactate
*Per Pound of Oil
I soap at room temperature - which means the oils and the lye solution are in the 65-75 degree range.

Hi Holly, it's 4th of July. We are cross country from garden city Kansas to Chicago Illinois. We just enter into Missouri. It's really beautiful through the areas we are driving passed. I enjoy watching summer fling when you used to make it. However this soap and scent sounds good and perfect for summer😉😍

@@davidahandcraftsoap I think it’s a Midwestern thing since it was invented in Michigan. I know our local Icecream maker ( Tofts) in Ohio makes it. :)

The mica colours are absolutely stunning and exactly how I think of Hawaii. The fragrance sounds beautiful, maybe it's the ginger flower although not mentioned at all. 😄 The pour looked like it could have been a Hawaiian shirt.

This is amazing! How do you make your soaps look so smooth looking? I make my soaps and when I cut into them they have micro bubbles all the time!

Thank you! I think a lot of it has to do with the stick blender used. Also if the recipe is higher in stearic acid (typically from palm oil), I notice the soaps will be bumpier.

Beautiful soap! I remember the old days when you were making Hawaiian Ginger Type! And that hot pink/blue and black soap you talked about, was it called Summer Lovin'? I loved your Camocado soap as well, and I'm pretty you made a Pink Camo soap back then too!

Thank you! I do not, I consider it part of my liquid portion. Any part of the extra oils/fat involved would be considered a super fat.

Beautiful soap Holly! When you made your red, white and blue soap, what red did you use, I made one and I used trial by fire from Nurture Soap, but, it didn't look right to me, like it wasn't red and bright enough, I used the right amount per lb of oils, but it doesn't look like yours, can you help me? Thank you!

Thank you! I don't even remember what I used back then. It was probably mostly Really Red from Nurture. Trial by Fire is my favorite. You can tweak it by adding some neon pink to it.

Was it Summer Melon Spritzer by chance? I used SO much of that FO and was devastated when they stopped carrying it. I think they recommended a cucumber melon and... a champagne something and it was NO WHERE near what that awesomeness was. I always hate getting attached to my FOs as I'm always afraid they'll be discontinued!

It wasn't Summer Melon Spritzer but I went to buy that recently and was so disappointed! It seems that one was so popular. I wonder if they weren't able to make it phthalate-free when they made that big change? We struggle with so many discontinuations!

I love your videos and have been watching for several years. You inspired me to start making soap. I use the "SoapCalc" app to score my recipe. My problem is that when I double the recipe the score changes. Do you have any idea why that would happen?

Please what can I do to stop the solution from getting thicker during production. Last time I tried but it got thick before I finished dissolving the colors

There are going to be several things that accelerate a batch. Heat, water amount, milk/sugars, fragrance, and stick blending technique are the most important. I can't really know what's causing the issue without knowing more.

U mixed TD with water/oil? At wat temp u mixed lye & oils? I get confused between lye concentration, so y u decided at 30%? My soap batter get thick if I mix fragrance in a whole batter like u. I’m very much afraid of doing so. So I add fo in the divided soap batter. I’m learning from u as a beginner & hope u will reply soon. TYA 🙂💐

You're over mixing before you put the fragrance in or you're using ones that speed up trace, use a soap calculator, I recommend thesage.com they have an easy to follow soap calc which will help with lye and water amounts and superfat

Thank you Rahat! I do soap at a 30% lye concentration. It works for my recipe but you may have different results. Most of the time I am fine adding the FO to the whole thing. I usually only add it to divided batter if I know I can divide the fragrance oil evenly and properly as well. I use water soluble titanium dioxide so I do mix it with water. I also soap at room temperature. In the winter that is around 60 and in the summer it is around 80.

I really love your videos! When I first started watching soap videos, I somehow did not like them, I don't know what actually bothered me. But over the time, always encouraged to watch when I saw that you had another beautiful design going on, your videos turned into my favorites to watch. I really enjoy listening to you, I also like the pack & chat :) Keep the great work going! I also like this soap - it looks very summer-y and happy and reminds me of having a creamy cocktail with a little paper umbrella while lying on an inflatable mat in the pool :) Not that I ever did this, BUT I can imagine doing it when looking at the soap design :D

Thank you Sarah! I don't have anything straight coconut-y. Unfortunately, that is one that doesn't really hold long term.
