“ I was born before health and safety “ that is hilarious. It just goes to show how proper training with experience mentors can have such a positive effect over government bureaucrats making silly rules. I also learned a really cool trick working with modern materials from this experienced craftsman. Rock on Cliff.

Those “silly rules” are a response to worker injuries and employers not providing safety equipment and safe working conditions. Nothing frivolous about it. Cut down on deaths and grievous bodily harm that was all too common in the 19th and early 20th century. I get it though. Both of you are just poking fun at rules. Guys don’t like directions either lol.

Thank you for sharing your approach to a problem that I didn’t know I had, with a solution that I didn’t know I needed. Absolutely brilliant. What a shame that the old ways of problem solving are being met with disrespectful snide remarks, instead of being valued. The ability to think outside of the box is a priceless dying art, in and of itself. Peace to you and your household.

Brilliant. Why didn't I think of that? I've been a builder for 35 years. I've used a torch to heat pvc piping to make soft bends while doing underground work, acrylic sheets to bend for custom aquariums, and all manor of such. Never dawned on me to heat and bend vinyl plank for stair nosing. This is fantastic! And nothing beats a proper jig.

I saw this video and did this on my rental property stairs(13) that previously were carpeted. Stairs had 2X12 boards for tread so I just bent my pre cut 48>42” length vinyl planks around a 2X4 (same thickness) and held it with a few drywall screws 3/4 thru width of a 1X3 as the overhang of the tread nose was 3/4”, then laid 2 30lb boxes of flooring on it till cold. Worked out good, snug fit on 2X12. Used construction adhesive. I don’t think renters can tear it up if they try, well, maybe.😜 Thanks for the video, Chuck from Orlando, FL USA.

I have just come across your video. I have to say thank you.. I have been looking for a way to transion vinyl flooring to the start of my top step. All I kept finding, was that I had to cut the bullnose off. I have no intension of doing that. Transion strips either cost an arm and a leg cause they have a slight curve or look like they belong in a factory. I was begining to think that my "bargain" flooring was a waste of hard earned. Well not any more. I will be doing this when the weather gets a bit better and its all down to you. As long as my hubby can keep the tea coming. Your a star. Thanks Cliff mate x
