Making the Forbidden Tri-edge Dagger Knife

7 жыл бұрынThe military pre geneva convention had a tri-edge trench knife. but they where outlawed for warfare because they produced a wound that was very hard to stop blood loss or suture so they where deemed inhumane and forbidden. I found this Raw file stock in a flea market months ago, it looked like somebody used it as a de burring tool for machining metal.

Guard still looks too thick, but yeah, looks much better and more like a traditional rondel dagger, so named because of the round guard.

I love how you redid the handle from the triangle handle, i agree that it didnt look right. Then you took the time to redo it vs just calling it a day. Kudos to you for making sure that the overall appearance matched between the blade and the handle.

It's a Rondel dagger. It was brought back as a tench knife but originally it was used by men at arms and Knights to dispatch armored opponents. it's made to punch threw padded armor and mail. it was used in an ice pick grip unlike modern knives.

looks nearly identical. Three three sided blade was a very popular blade for rondels. The grip should be thinner and the disk larger and an other disk should be on the pummel but in terms of the blade and over all look it's spot on.

There are THOUSANDS of variations on the design and this knife meets the basic design and shape. Furthermore it can be wielded in the same way without a problem.

Looks very similar to the bearing scrapers we made as apprentices from old three square files. Used to finesse the fit of shaft journals in white metal or Babbitt bearings.

Always a good reminder. Really easy to get too comfortable with tools, everybody does it at some point and regrets it. I did the power drill through the right index finger thing in 2014 and can't say I was a huge fan of the event in general.

Cool video but, no where in the Geneva Convention does it "outlaw" such items. I've looked. The Soviets used spike bayonets through out the entire second world war and that was after the convention so,...anyway, thanks for the great video.

Dimetropteryx the original tri blade was illigal as it was a twisted blade which was considered extremely inhumane as it was designed to twist the flesh and tear a gaping hole upon exiting. any blade with a twist is still illigal for use in combat and other wise as there designed only to kill there not a utility knife. hope that clears things up.
