You forgot one very important and easy mod. You can put a real Gameboy Pocket/Color D-Pad. It fits with no modification at all.

@@kayster9516 Only GBC/Pocket D-pads fit. A and B don't fit without some modification. And start/select don't fit at all.

Clicked. Got excited. Thought it may be some custom cases, buttons or a correct ratio screen. Was disappointed it was just a sticker and lens. Minor aesthetic changes that don't bother me personally.

I've modded mine a little bit as well- one big improvement for me was changing out the terrible d-pad with a standard gameboy one, I highly recommend it!

Here's a suggestion for another video in making the GB boy Colour better. When playing a game without headphones the GB boy Colour cuts off half of the stereo sound. This is most apparent with the game Alleyway. Please consider having a video to show how to wire the audio to the speaker so that both sides of the stereo is reproduced in the one speaker.

nah, it's actually Game Boy games on board. Not NES games. I think one of these games is even a GBC version of Yar's Revenge. All the rest is regular GB titles. Including Tetris. However the loudspeaker does only play ONE of the stereo channels, unlike the original Game Boys who had a Mono-Mixdown of the stereo audio coming from the internal Loudspeaker.

Hi Elliot, you said the older models can have the screens from bluish squirrel but the newer gb boys wouldn’t fit and you would update us on screens we can use. Could you let me know where I can get the screens to fit the newer ones as I’d like to do this as my first ever mod please xxx

I'm not sure I would call this all that much of an improvement if I'm perfectly honest. The lens is nice, but it doesn't change the fact that the aspect ratio on the GB Boy colour is stretched.

Congrats on 100k Elliot! I made a video on this same thing, haha. You can also replace the D-pad with a GBC D-pad. A and B unfortunately don't fit without modification, but at least the D-pad does.

Did you also buy the other lens that doesn't include the "light" logo on it? I am stuck on which one to get because the one you have the "Gameboy" color of the text really stands out, but the "gameboy" text on the original one without the "light" on it seems to look very dim almost like you can't even see the logo, I may just end up buying both of them to see which one looks best

Hey does the GBC battery cover fit in the GB Boy Colour? If so you can use an atomic purple replacement on a transparent purple GB Boy Colour

Unfortunately not. The measures / dimensions of botf are not exactly 1:1 identical. A GBC battery cover won't sit properly on a GB Boy Colour (a little too loose) and a GB Boy Colour battery cover won't even really fit the backside of a genuine GBC because it would be slightly too big for the GBC... it's a real downer. It seems the GB Boy Colour is aprox. 1% bigger.

You can, a GB Pocket or Colour dpad drops right in and fitting a DMG dpad is simply a case of filing down the existing hole.

Must be a GB Boy (Color)-sized lens. The non-Color model might be the same size.

The games that come on the built-in flash are old (and thus small) DMG Game Boy games. It has a Game Boy-compatible IC in it, so it couldn't possibly run NES games. It's not an emulator. I assume you were thinking of the NES-compatible units that are shaped like Game Boy model(s).

What 3M adhesive are you using there? The screen lens on my DMG fell off years ago and have never found a great solution to reapply it.

@@Lucrei. sounds like you have either a broken contact pad, or a damaged point on the board. The button contacts might be slightly different sized. Try using the rubber pad that was originally in the GB boy colour in case you replaced it with one from a real GBC.

Bluishsquirrel has quite a decent selection of screen lenses, but one they do not have is for the GB Pocket revision that has no battery LED. if this changes it will be very nice for those of us with these cost-reduced models.

As for me in gb boy colur, I would like to see two modifications. 1 and the most important that this red LED informing about the battery charge works, the 2nd cross was from GBC. The rest can be survived somehow. :)

Well, the battery cover still says GB Boy. But it's not as noticeable anyway. Otherwise, this is terrific! Really makes it seems like a genuine product.
