If you've been missing the classic Taco Bell Taco Salad as much as I have then good news! In this video I will show you how to make it, including the tortilla bowl. Links to buy the special taco salad bowl making tool are below. I also included a link to my deep fryer that I have been using for a few years. It is really great and costs less than $60usd. I do not get anything from these links. I just wanted to help you find this stuff as easily as possible

As an ex Taco Bell manager in the early 90’s, this is great. Taco salads were my favorite. A few notes: Use the Taco Bell seasoning mix for the meat, and add a quarter cup of quick oats. Trust me. Lettuce needs to be cut more thinly. Then cheese. Then tomatoes. Then the sour cream. And now I need to make this. Thank you for bringing it back. The shell is everything.

It had been a long time since I made one and had a bit of trouble getting the exact order correct. Thanks for the correct order and the tip about the oats. That soaks up the grease nicely and does add a bunch to the flavor and texture of the meat.

Taco Salad was My Favorite and nothing comes close. (At least to me). This guy did a great job with putting it all together as I forgot what goes into it. So please tell me if there was a sauce of some kind that went on top or am I thinking wrong. I’m definitely trying this today With Much Respect…

Great job as a former Taco Bell manager I remember this as well as one other commented usually it was 3 ounces of beans, 5 ounces of lettuce one and a quarter ounces of ground beef on top of the lettuce a quarter ounce of cheese, four tomatoes squirt of sour cream, and originally one black olivesbut great job especially with making the shell

I know I am late to the party here but I wanted to see how to make this Taco Bell style OG Taco Bowl that is bubbled up and so delicious. Too many people are just baking them in the oven and they are just hard tortillas, not bubbly and delicious. I just ordered the Winco tool to shape the bowl. If you don't have a fryer, you can use a cast iron ceramic coated dutch oven or a big heavy pot with oil. Thanks for making this. Taco Bell has lost me as a long time customer. Not only are the Taco Salads gone, there is no Mexican Pizza. They suck!!

My first job was Taco Bell and they had an item called the Bell Burger. It was awesome and I really do miss it. I am 71 years old now and I was 16 years old when I worked there. Wish they would bring it back. I don’t eat there anymore because they make crap I don’t like.

I love those things! They changed the name to the bell beefer after they got sued by the burger mafia. I ate the last 3 they had at the store I worked at when they discontinued it. I made a video about it a while ago.

Sorry, It's a flour tortilla. I don't think you could find a corn tortilla that big.

Free stuff is the best stuff! I have found that if there are 4 or more cars in line it is faster to go inside as well.

Oh no I don't have a fryer but I have a little non-stick oven taco salad bowl I hope I can make it crunchy good and breakable like you said

Looks good, but I have to admit that I've never walked into a Taco Bell in search of a salad. In fact, I've been known to say disparaging things about the wilted, rancid-tasting iceberg lettuce they use, and when I remember I always tell them to leave it out of my tacos.

12" flour tortillas as the correct shells. I only have Guerrero tortillas inthat size where I'm at so that is what I use.

Yes, it's healthier, however, it is not delicious and nor is it like the OG taco shell bowls at Taco Bell which is what he recreated here. Huge difference in flavor.

So my mom said we're having taco salad she has some lettuce in a bowl with taco meat on top I said wait a second let's turn this into a real taco salad using the Shell using rice beans the taco meat shredded lettuce and all the toppings

What kind of oil do you use?

I use just straight vegetable oil. Canola oil works once but after that it picks up a fishy smell that creates a weird flavor for things like this.

Hot jerk chicken then I'm going to add some sour cream Mayo sharp cheese lots of Italian cheese olives mushrooms go ahead and add lots of invitation crab meat mixed with mayo make sure I had lots of Olives do the imitation crab cake put on top of it and lots of smoked salmon lots of avocados and lots of garlic and olive oil a needle thorn bush and jinxing jinxing

With all due respect, If you can't replicate the salsa, you can't replicate the taco salad. End of discussion. I'm sure yours is good and all, but I want a Taco Bell taco salad. I haven't looked for their salsa and a grocery store but I'm going to guess I can't get it since I can't even get it at a Taco Bell anymore.

Taco Bell just used a third party for their salsa so it was the same as a store bought salsa. It was just a picante style salsa as I recall. The recipe was never published and it is long gone so recreating it 100% is impossible at this point. They best we can do is get close. The jarred salsas you can buy at the store (pick your favorite brand) are going to be very close to the original that TB used.
