I’m just a passionate hobbyist, that loves to make Props and other Stuff.
And so I am sharing this build just for the love of all things creative and hope to inspire others into the wonderful world of prop making.
This is my full video “build” of making the Wolverine Cowel. And since a lot of you ask repeatedly how I clean up my 3D prints and especially the print lines on PLA you’ll be glad to know that this video really focuses on that. How to smooth out a 3D PLA print with minimal effort. And since I love sharing my prop making passion so much with you guys, I’ve of course included everything, all the way to the finished display prop.
I’ve actually used talcum powder for mixing my paints, as far back as some 30ish years ago, when I attended art school. So its safe to say the trick has been around a while. And its always fun to look at new ways of using old teqniques with the ever evolving craft of prop making. Especially when it comes to peoples fast growing interests in everything related to 3d printing these days.
Links to the 3D model, as well as a list of some of the materials and tools I use can be found below.
I really hope you enjoy it:)

Absolutely amazing detailed breakdown of the entire process. Why on earth haven’t I been saving ever last drop of wasted resin in a separate container like that?!? Goal for 2022 is to make a spray booth like that 🤯

Hello there Uncle Jessy Sir😁 Thank you so much for saying that😁 That really means a lot, especially when it’s from someone who I know share’s the same interests. And you’ll be happy to know a «Studio Tour» is coming, and I’ll hopefully put in the making of the spray booth😉 Have a good one, and enjoy the holiday’s with family & friends. Cheers

I'ma be honest, that killed part of my soul when he added plastic eyes instead of lenses. I know it's a prop, but you can't tell me that everyone DOESN'T have a desire to wear a build like this, and NOT be disappointed when you can't see out of it. Lol Great build!

I am simply blown away with the level of craftsmanship you apply to your props. I've been following you on Insta for some time now, and have always wondered how you could achieve such a high finishing to your Wolverine helmet. Seeing that helmet always brings me back good memories of afternoons on end reading X- Men 90's comics. Such classics. Thanks for sharing 👍 😊

You are correct about the talc. Body fillers are basically just polyester resin, like you would use for fiberglass work, with fillers like talc to create the paste consistency. You can also make your own out of regular polyester or epoxy resin and add in talc or glass bead till you get the consistency you want.

As a fellow prop maker, I must say, you're truly legit. I have been using resin and spray putty interchangeably for years, but your method to add talcum powder is new to me. I've learnt something exciting, can't wait to try it. I don't think dedicated small bottles of uv resin is practical. Just because the props which makers makes are usually very big. One difference is, I use a large UV torchlight and a wider brush than yours to cover wider areas faster. I usually make 8 of these at the same time 🤭 Btw, with masking tape, hardware stores sells low tack(low adhesion) masking tape for hobby paints like this. You're totally right that masking tape will tear off paint, I make masks too and got my fair share of this problem. I'm using the low tack masking tape from 3M now and they save me a ton of rework.
