I have a personal pinterest board that is always keeping my inspired for new projects, so I thought I'd take you along the process today! I’ve have had this book table picture pinned for a while now and have always wanted to try and make it myself. After doing lots of research, I still can’t seem to find the original maker, but I am so excited to take a go at it myself! Next, I thrifted a circular bamboo shelf from a local thrift store and immediately thought it looked pretty familiar. I then remembered a classic Crate & Barrel item that I have had pinned on my personal Pinterest board that I thought I could recreate. Let me know which one you like the best!

The original creator for the book table was an Etsy artist from San Francisco named Jane Dandy. "The one photographed here is the one I made for myself and was meant to capture a moment in my life. All the books in this table are about architecture and capsulize the years I spent studying architecture in the San Francisco Bay Area."

This book table is now, officially, my favorite Becky project. I am going to make this table! I was watching and thinking about how I have special books that are just in stacks or on a shelf, lost to the chaos. I love how this not only makes them special, but turns them into art. Useful art. Also, just as I was thinking: But what if you wanted to switch out books? BAM! Becky thought of that. I’m gonna do it too, damn it! Can’t wait! Thank you.

A magnetized piece of plexiglass could be really cool on top of the table. Drill small holes in the wood and then secure the small magnets down in the holes. Then adhere the other part of the magnet onto the plexiglass so it can sort of float on top and yet be removed easily.

Also I loved that you shared more of your inspirations with the book it's very interesting I'd love to see more design/architecture content. And to finish those two pieces looks STUNNING you're right the almond color looks wood like and really brings the parts of the shelf together and the no glue technique was genius and very sustainably interesting ! That book table is incredible. And I'm so glad you went with a lighter colour on the shelf (I literally yelled NOOO when you discussed painting it black), I think it turned out really great!

I absolutely *adore* both of these - the adjustable nature of the book table was genius!! I also really enjoyed the vibes of this video, so chill and naturalistic. More of this style would go down very well 💜

I was just thinking about the glass and then you mentioned it. Definitelly putting some glass on top to prevent beverages from damaging the books is the right move. Stunning table! And I love that you can change it up.

Genius solution with the rods!! I’ve been holding on for a bunch threaded rods with really nice brass screws for years now, trying different ideas, but I think this is it! I know my grandpa who first kept them for years in his garage would be happy to see them used for something like this. I also love the geeky book talk! Nice to get a glimpse of what inspires you guys.

Fantastic results! I love that you found a paint colour that blended so well with the cane. My only recommendation for that piece is to add some cane cording along the cut edges so they're not quite so messy. But otherwise, you nailed it! Super cute result! Also, that book table is amazeballs! Can't wait to see the update when you seal it and add the glass. And I LOVE your solution to holding all the sheets of plywood together - genius! You can definitely add more favourites in the future! As a side note: I totally want to find a copy of Tomorrow's House now. Thanks for sharing that with us - it is a super cool "relic"!

Girl... Not going to lie, everything int his entire video is a whole mood. The undertones of the bleh time of year after the come-down from the holidays, the laying in bed with the fur babies with the blackout curtains shut, the project stopping points that can feel so incredibly difficult to overcome... This feels like a REAL video, if that makes any sense? The way it was presented, the lighting, the voiceovers, the frustrations of decision making when you're stuck... it's as brilliant as THAT FREAKING LITERAL COFFEE TABLE BOOK TABLE. This is by far one of the most personal videos this channel has ever put out and I feel so much comfort and less alone than i did a half hour ago knowing that I'm not the only one in this season of life. Cheers! Well done! [ ETA: STILL I am floored over the industrial piercing through the table for future modifications. I saw that same table, LOVED IT, and was immediately like "That is a static piece, like an art installation. It is meant to be a time capsule in a way, which is very permanent, so that wouldn't work for me," since, like you said, books come in so many different shapes and sizes. I am L I V I N G, QUEEN

The way you thought through making the book table modular and sustainable was pure brilliance. It would have been impressive enough just to engineer it, but to up the ante in this way just goes beyond.
