To the young mechanic...when you are grinding metal, ALWAYS wear eye protection !! I am an idiot from Massachusetts USA, and worked on cars for 40 years. I STILL have a piece of metal behind my right eye, because back in the 1980's, I didn't wear eye protection . You are young, and have many many years to SEE. Be careful. Peace

Considering the crazy potential this idea has I hope they revisit it next winter. Just imagine if you had 5 chain loops instead of 2. The traction!!!!
@mikaelgaiason6885 жыл бұрын
Exactly what I was thinking. 5 should do it just fine.
@JoseARomo-qv5fk5 жыл бұрын
They would've had better traction if that Lada had an LSD. As it is, because the chains don't grip enough on their own, the car just does one wheel peels. They'd get better results if both rear wheels actually tried to push the car along
@adrakor54494 жыл бұрын
This is insane or genius there's a fine line there 😂 I love how every episode is like a loss from a drunken bet. Chain tires, wooden pistons, Tesla pickup, to unconventional liquids in different engine systems. Love it. Wish I could come to garage 54 to see this beautiful madness in person.

Hey, fellas, I just wanted to let you know, not all your viewers are fellas! Now, here in the UK, we used to use "cage-wheels" on our farm tractors about fifty years ago - I'm surprised you took so long to catch up! 😂 I definitely think you needed more ribs across the "tyre" surface, or even add a third rim of chain around the centre line of the tyre, and adopt a tractor style pattern of cleats, maybe even use angle iron strips for the treads? I'm impressed by how those spokes held up. I personally would have gone for tangential spokes rather than radial, and would have used more of them. Great show fellas! Keep them coming.

Snow chains lol. More bridges would be cool but man that cat/dog car! How about a revival with a flipped diff on one end, linked controlls and some kind of extention on the rear half's steering to a small second steering wheel next to the driver and an exhaust system? I cant believe how few views the cat/dog recieved. Thank you and rock on!

You guys always do Excellent work! Thanks for these videos they are very entertaining. I think these would have worked if you put many more links in-between the inner and outer rim. Having only a few, the weight is mostly only resting on the inner and outer chains, with very little surface area, making the chains dig into the snow. I think if you finished adding more links in-between the inner and outer rim with chain links, it would work, they would be heavier though.

The chopper bike in my avatar pic used to be a girls bike. I hadda make the top bar outta 2 leanths of chain side-by-side because one length was too wobbly. The sissy bar is also welded chain that I had to weld a stiffening brace under the seat, otherwise it too, was too wobbly. I'm shocked that the welded wheels here didn't just flop over sideways. Maybe better quality chain was used(?) Fun stuff!!!
