Be ready because I like to write paragraphs it it might be a long one : There’s this memorable time, a few days after I turned 15, I swapped socials with this girl in my online class. We hopped on a call, and we just clicked instantly. We went from talking about tea and warm drinks, to our favourite comics, to our favourite music tastes. At some point, it was 2 am, and I mentioned going on a “coffee date” as a joke. But she took it a little more seriously, saying: “okay but wait. So I’m like really fucking gay so you know if we wanna go on this date-“ That. That sent me in MAJOR gay panic. she was asking me if I was a girl or not. Because I didn’t clarify at first. I stumbled over my words, and avoided taking the hint. I quickly moved on to another topic because I WAS SO SCARED LMAO So I guess that was my first “partial gay awakening”. Because I wasn’t fully sure. I thought maybe I was just scared. My second “Gay awakening” that fully confirmed I liked girls was when I watched the Last of us. My family took my phone and went through all my messages. They found out I was talking to that girl I made friends with. I’m not gonna spill too much about what they did, but they isolated me from everything and everyone. They burned my drawings, set up Microsoft family on my computer, and reset my phone. I was lucky enough to even have access to youtube - watching video game playthroughs kept me going. I started watching the Last of us, and I was so fascinated by Ellie. Like - she was pretty, she presented more “masculine”, and she was a badass? Looking at her sent me into gay panic. I saw Ellie and Riley kiss, I understood that ellie was a lesbian that was when I realized I might like girls. My heart just ached when I reminded myself that ellie isn’t real. She’s fictional and I’m probably never going to be with someone like her. I remembered how I felt about people like Zendaya in a suit or Maya hawke in stranger things. Characters like Vi from arcane (I internally screamed whenever I saw her ;-;) , tiana from “Princess and the frog”, Mulan from - well, “Mulan”, Penny from “Bolt”, violet from “the walking dead, or chloe and steph from life is strange. That girl I was on a call with for hours and hours also WOAH I JUST REMEMBERED - If rainbow dash playing the guitar in the final battle of MLP equestria girls wasn't y'alls gay awakening - THEN WHAT IS. That scene played with every hear string, and made me wanna scream SO BAD AAAA The more I thought about it, the more I felt like “god it makes so much sense”. It wasn’t too long before that realization because a scary reality, I was shaking , I shut my computer, deleted all my history, and I cried until I felt empty. Empty because there was no one to help me through it. My parents took everything away and I had no one to comfort me, or help me through these feelings. Wellll that didn’t end so positive. I promise I didn’t mean to make this paragraph **this** big. I’m sorry, I think I just needed to vent :,D Also mak I might've just DmD with a helpful idea about needing help with youtube editing

Thirteen from Dr House, I didn't even watch the show, or much TV at all, but some scenes with her came up when my mom would leave the TV on in the afternoon, and I didn't understand why I was so fascinated by her! Also, the women rock climbing when I went in high school. Shoulders? I did not understand why I was so intimidated then either!

It wasn't really waking up as such, I think I've always been fascinated with women for as long as I can remember. Friends, girls I saw on TV, Disney movies. But my conscientious gay confirmation was definitely Korra and Asami, both equally and each in a different way. I mean, Korra with those blue eyes, her smile, that explosive attitude and how strong she is, oh gosh, her muscles. And Asami, so elegant, feminine but also intense, the way she fights, never loses her grace. From then on I knew and accepted what I am 🌈

Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swan in Pirates of the Carribean was probably my first gay awakening, all the sea swept, pirate vibes! Kristen Stewart in the runaways (!!) is such a big one from my teens - there is this one scene to the song crimson and clover with Dakota Fanning and omg i think i died. Then also like Morgana in Merlin, Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter and Riversong in Dr Who when I was younger - all slightly unhinged dom witchy femmes?

This is such a specific experience that it's kind of a relief to see that I'm not the only one 💀 Though to be fair, he didn't make me realize I was gay, not fully -- we just _definitely_ did the "homoerotic best friends" thing the whole time we were in each other's lives.

When I was in middle school, the girls in my class kept asking who my crush was (before I realized I was gay). I eventually told them (and ended up believing) it was my friend, who later came out as trans (mtf).

Okay so when I was 8 I was at CHRISTIAN SUMMER CAMP and we got back from a field trip at the pool. There were only two girls bathrooms (without stalls) and we couldn't all change in one room because "seeing other girls like that is a sin" ANYWAY they put on a movie for us (despicable me) and I fall in love with Margo as one does. I didn't realize why I was obsessed with her until I was like 11 and started watching Total Drama Island and start liking Gwen. Naturally, I get scared and suppress those thoughts. Still have only gotten through the first and half of the second episode of TDI. Needless to say there was a lot if religious guilt. Edit: I am doing a lot better now, and I am very thankful for my friends!

Mine was Elliot Page in Juno. I was just enthralled with the character and how badass she (Juno) was. I then became obsessed and watched literally every movie he was ever in and bought them all on DVD 😂 Before I knew I was queer, I would tell people “I’d go gay for [dead name] Page.” Said this for years and somehow I still thought I was straight. 🙄

Growing up, I think my first gay awakening was Suki from Avatar: The Last Airbender, but of course I didn't know this cause I was like 5. Then I was falling for my best friend who is also my childhood friend to which we have not spoken in a while (after I confessed......yup😬) but even then I still didn't think I was gay! It took me watching the Bumblebee movie and seeing Hailee Steinfeld to be like, "huh I think I may be bi" and then it took another additional 3 to 4 years to realize that I'm a lesbian who doesn't like to think of men in a romantic light because every relationship was actually for ✨male validation✨ (except for fictional men, don't hate me, you know you like the fictional men too) So now I'm a raging lesbian, who my mom surprisingly knows I'm a lesbian from a conversation we had where she said "my daughter is a lesbian" even though I told her I was bi 3 years ago and never said anything about me being a lesbian lately....👀

That’s what a lot of people say about Hermione, but for me it wasn’t the stair case scene. It wasn’t one specific scene, but one I distinctly remember (I was 8 or 9) was when she punched Draco. Still my favorite scene.

Meg was probably what I'd call my gay awakening at age 7, but once I really understood that I might be gay, I repressed so hard and for so long that I needed a second one. Enter She-Ra a few years ago, and Catra specifically... I like snarky, dark-haired, golden-hearted women who want out of their circumstances but don't know how to get out, what can I say 🙈 But even more than just the character similarities, there's a specific scene in the episode "Save the Cat" where the animation momentarily goes shot-for-shot with Hercules, but gay, and it hit me like a freight train. I still don't fully know how to put into words what it was like to watch that for the first time. It felt like my entire life had led to that moment. It was _very_ difficult to deny that I was a lesbian for much longer after that.

My gay awakening was almost two years ago. I was in a relationship with my second bf but on the verge of breaking up. And I had a new friend who joined our dnd campaign. She had a dating app on her phone and we causally did the "rating your choices" game. And in my mind, there was a tiny voice "Put down your phone! I'm right here!" But ofc I was 100% I'm straight. One day we accidentally were late from our dnd game cause there was a tiny wandering amusement park on the way to our friend's house so they paid for me the little shooting game just to win a plush pokemon for my birthday. I was never late for anything in my entire life so you can imagine... (While at that time my bf and my friends who hated him, were waiting for us to arrive.) And now, we've been dating for over a month, and I'm the happiest I ever was.

my gay awakening is two things but same person. both liz gillies. one scene in victorious where jade and tori are singing take a hint. (more specifically the counting omggg) the second one is liz gillies playing Fallon in dynasty and the scene where Fallon storms in and hits someone then goes to shout at her mom. ( she says "where Is she") honestly flustered!!
