An excellent tool - has saved me a fortune hanging doors - with the right jigs. My old mains powered thing is down the tip recycling bin.

Nice stout, versatile bench. I use it a lot, not just for routing.

Yes I am. It seems like yesterday. I was the first visiting lecturer there. Were you a student at that fine establishment?

@@WoodomainJeremyBroun I am delighted to hear that. There was such a great bunch of visting tutors back then, Ian Heseltine, Andrew Varah, Declan ODonoughue and yourself among others And its great to see you adopting to new medias. Yes I am an ex-Fracker, circa mid to late 1990s. I never had you as a tutor , you were taking the other class years. But I knew you by reputation among those who had you, which was in the realm of a deity , of fine furniture making kind. Yes it all seems like only yesterday, wonderful times, simple times , immersed in projects with little distractions in a very remote region. Im not in the woodwork busines, my career went another route, its pure hobbyist for now. I revisit the college frequently, its has evolved but kept true to the ethos ye established. Do you ever go back. Now that I know where you are I will look into your books and otehr material. I bought a Makita DRT50 router/trimmer this morning, based on your recommendation. If it is good enough for Jeremy Broun, then its most certainly good enough for us mere mortal woodies. All the best.

@@mickhurley7305 Hello Mick, good to hear that you have fond memories of Letterfrack. Andrew Varah was an ex Shoreditch college friend of mine and became chief assessor for the school and as you know sadly passed away a few years ago. He and I both shared the same platform at the Cork 'Create' event in 2005 organized by Joseph Walsh ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ncyeo9B_16zGqIE.html ) . Declan and I formed The Furniture Group for a while (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ecuea8Kftqyck5c.html ) in the mid 90s. 1993 was my last visit to the school I think. Iy is refreshing for me gto be rarely acknowledged as a woodworker with some kind of history pre KZfaq culture. I cringe at some of the current gurus and its not really about viewing numbers. Regarding the little Makita router I hope it is a good choice for you. They are not cheap but I do find for lots of little jobs I am picking it up as first choice from a substantial collection of routers I have. The straight fence is really limited but if you use the router as a highly precise 'jigged device' it really is a nice little router that can do a lot. I have taken it up with Makita why on earth they limit the potential of it by calling it a trimmer but I guess the priome market is for tradesmen cutting grooves or rebates! As to 'deity'' I don't know about that! The last time I was mentioned by a reviewer of one of new books it was said that 'many coinsider me as a router maverick' but actually I was the guy who wrote the first creative book on the subject, innovating techniques and jigs!!! Take care, I hope you enjoy my somewhat non-conformist channel.

@@WoodomainJeremyBroun Thank you for the video links I enjoyed the blast from the past. As Krenov said, bad craftsmen get away with bad craft by calling it art. I am a fan of the unconventional , my own route thru Letterfrack and wood in general has been unconventional also. Sorry to hear about Andrew Varah, he was kind to me in my end of year assessment as my chess board was still in a couple of parts and not finished. Take care, enjoy tonight's match, I will browse your material in the coming days.

Yes this is true but collet lengths can vary between routers and there are a lot of routers out there! Its easy to push it in all the way and then retract it fractionally!

I havent tried it but I suspect yes as it is a powerful pro grade jigsaw and Makita know that kitchen fitting is a common trade and use for the saw. it will just be slow at that thickness.
