Nice Job analyzing Makita XUX01. Planning to buy this now after this review.

Thanks for doing this! I've only seen reviews on the single battery power head. I too went with the two battery version with a brush cutting head, 10" limb trimmer chainsaw and extension pole.

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzfaq.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

Have never used an edge trimmer attachment as the line trimmer does job and saves the expense and storage space. Thanks for sharing. Cheers

Yep Awesome I purchased a combo powerhead makita set about a year ago Yep Expensive but worth it Awesome to use Light & powerful with semi auto feed head & loading is simple now Better than petrol if you have enough batteries ( i have 8 x 5 amp batteries which i use on my mower & power tools as well ) I purchased the large makita battery mower with 4 blade mulching & 4 batteries & a free blower All awesome as well I have 1/4 acre it does a great job

Great video and battery test! I bought this unit in a massive kit yesterday for an overgrown deceased estate garden/jungle. Cost me $1200 Australian. Got the 36v 14inch chainsaw too $500. Working between the 2 units allowed dead batteries to be charged on the twin rapid charger almost as fast as they were depleted.. which honestly took some cutting. Highly recommend this gear. The pole saw was very handy! The chainsaw is a weapon. I am not a professional but like getting the right tool for the job.. and have no regrets spending 1.5k on this stuff yesterday.. i relieved $200 store credit to put towards the chainsaw and also as a sweetener I have a $250 blower on the way via redemption and received a bonus brushcutter attachment.. so that takes the sting out of it a little. My advice is if you're looking for a kit like this wait untill a sale or tax time when bonuses are included. Last year I got their 18v grinder free with a drill set. Makes up for the price somewhat 👍🏻

I'm a landscape contractor and I recently bought makita 10" chainsaw and I love it. I plan on changing my equipment over to battery powered equipment. Waiting for makita 40 v to come out. Thanks for the video.

I appreciate the comment about how do landscapers manage to do their work during the summer heat.. Being a small landscape business owner myself I can tell you it's pretty hard. But lately the heat is really getting to me and I simply can't take it anymore. My solution for the last 2 seasons has been the following... I've cut down the number of clients knowing it will cut into my income. This way, during the hot days I work part time. Usually I start at 7AM (that's why I've been transfering more and more to the battery operated machines that are much more quiet and therefore I can start the work early), and work till 10 AM. And then I put in another 2-3 hours late in the afternoon, definitely after 6 PM. That's about 5 hours of work during the summer. The grass is usually much more dormant and daylight ends after 9 PM. So I make most of the money during the spring rush then slow down during the summer and then pick up some slack again in September. The season usually ends mid November and starts in mid to late February...

I am considering buying the Power head combo set, comes with a pole saw, hedge trimmer and line trimmer, batteries and charger, $1100 Australian, I know its expensive, but after doing my hedges with a cheap electric trimmer, that took me 4hrs and a bad back as a result, I figure I will have a better range of tools that will be a lot easier to operate. My cheap gas line trimmer is destined for the rubbish heap.

Thanks for this! I’m in Australia and wanting this for the edge trimmer but when I get that I’ll buy the string trimmer too and get rid of my petrol one. :-)

I got the combo yesterday it was on sale here in Sydney. 36v power head, 2 5Ah 18v battery with twin fast charger, hedge trimmer attachment, shaft extension, line trimmer attachment. Special Bonus 18v blower. Price of $969 au dollar. Hopefully it will make the job quicker.

That’s a nice trimmer, but man the price :( I have lots of makita tools, and Milwaukee. Love em both. Love my makita rear handle 36v circ saw, and trim router. But when it came to getting a new string trimmer with edger I went with the Milwaukee fuel quik loc and couldn’t be happier. The edging attachment was only 99.00 and that’s a non sale price, I got the power head with trimmer attachment, rapid charger, and 8ah hd battery for 200, now that was a sale price. So basically I got everything for 300 all together. I wish it had the reverse feature though. The hedging attachment is 179 though, pricy. But I am very impressed with the power on the Milwaukee, and I’m sure the makita is great as well. My tool box and garage are red, and teal with a little puke green mixed in lol nice review

Great video. Is it heavy to use with the hedge trimmer attachment?

Beware the DUX60 head with 2 x 6AMP batteries and this EN401MP attachment are very heavy! I had to trim about 20-25m long hedge (only one side and top) and my hands were already falling off half way through it hence had to look for the strap as otherwise would not be able to finish. You really have to have very strong hands or use the strap from the start although there's no position adjustment on the head for better balance with different length/weight attachments. I had to use a cheap corded hedge trimmer because about 85% into the job my 5 year old batteries finished. Apart from that the combo is superb quality and performance! However, I might just get the slightly lighter EN410MP for trimming sides or another dedicated lighter corded trimer and keep the EN401MP for trimming hedge tops and anything that would normally require a ladder.

Has anyone done a head-to-head of this ecosystem vs the Ego? Looking at both right now. I like that there are 3rd party batteries available for the Makita, and I've always liked Makita tool quality. The Ego batteries are extremely expensive, but I do love the auto-feed trimmer. Loading trimmers is always a crappy job I'd rather avoid. I'm also looking at getting the chainsaw attachment and probably the power broom.

Where did you find the edger attachment? Also would the echo edger attachment fit? Or do I need the makita one. Thanks

for a small to medium size garden this power head is ok, for anything bigger you are constantly replacing the batteries
