This is one of the better known tracks from Mr Malcolm Mclaren from his ground-breaking album Duck Rock.Nothing new here now but at the time it was, as usual with MM ahead of it's time.27 years later it still sounds as good today as when I first heard it.Enjoy...

The girls dressed in Red and White are from Brooklyn . I was their 5th as well as their 6th grade teacher. I also had the opportunity to coach them in the sport of double dutch. We still communicate today, thanks to FB. They are all doing very well. Three of the young ladies have gone on to complete college. Two of them have earned their PHDs. All four are happily living their lives and have successful families. It annoys me that some of the comments made are just ridiculous. I have watched these young ladies grow from young 11 year old girls to beautiful successful young women. Very proud to have been their teacher in school , as well as their coach in the sport of Double Dutch.

@deplorabled1695 I think (hope) the cancer has abated. My tongue was removed, and I'm trying to learn how to speak and swallow with a transplanted muscle from my leg. I feed on Nestlé Resource 2.0 via a PEG tube into my stomach. I'm going to ask the Surgeon for a scan of my throat where the the cancer started, just to confirm that I'm in the clear. But in all, life is not too bad, and I am touched and amazed by a strangers concern and put my trust in God to do whatever brings Him glory,

Um, I'm a black female who double dutched then. Malcolm didn't exploit us at all. Fact is he is the ONLY white artist who capitalized off black music and at the same time broadcast loud and clear it was black music created by black people. Compare to everyone else white, especially in America. Especially Madonna who now twerks and booty pops, and wore a gold tooth, and credited us black females NOT. ONE. BIT. God bless you, Malcolm, and thank you.

Indeed, this was one of the gems of New York City culture back in the 80s. We took the lemons that a putrid Big Apple gave us and made lemonade with it. Unfortunately, that light of the Holy Spirit is gone from New York City, I mean even New Yorks greatest nutritionist Gary Null broadcasts into New York but he is not IN New York physically anymore and neither am I.

Stolen music. That's a mbaqanga beat from South Africa. Double Dutch, ripped from Puleng, would become McLaren's top hit, reaching No 3 on the UK charts, and with the 12" release, also breached the US dance charts. Tsotsi became Zulus on a Time Bomb, the flip side of the Double Dutch single, though it would be excluded from the album.

Totally ridiculous statement when Rock and Roll is from African beats and rhythms, theres also Jazz, Blues, R&B etc... Most American music has major African influences from the beginning. Even Bluegrass and such. For instance the banjo was first created by African Americans based on an African instrument. I could go onand on... Study some music history....

@carlharris8866 100% agree with your comment. As a South African it angers me that McLaren brazenly profited with this OBVIOUS PLAGIARISM. Those of us who grew up with mbaqanqa and mahlatini can tell only too well. Which is why he ultimately settled out of court with the boyoyo boys. Without them McLaren would never have been able to conceive of a sound like this, let alone "compose" this. Respect to paul simon who actually honored South African musicians and brought them to the world stage, combining with it his immense song writing talent.
