India is helping Maldives in every situations like we gives food, water, vaccine, every years we give billions of aid to that small country, our army saved their democracy, etc there is no any reason that they hate to india. There are campaign videos online, showing their party supporters parading, dressed like Mr. Modi, wearing Modi face masks and then wearing a garland of shoes as necklace. Such campaigns were run to come to power by this Maldives govt. India and Indian had ignored that then.

Tata has announced to develop Lakshadweep as a tourist spot by investing in hospitality sector of the islands. The famous hut resort of Maldives is owned by the Tatas themselves. It won't be long before Lakshadweep becomes a better alternative of Maldives, especially when someone like Tata is involved.

You are right. Maldives is extremely expensive compared to Lakshadweep. An important fact to consider is that entry to Lakshadweep has been controlled to limit the commercial footfall to keep the nature pristine. I hope in future as more properties come up, they too will take care of the same. I have always pondered that when Maldives go under, then where will their population go? America or Africa?
