I cannot express enough how much you should not be travelling to Hawai'i right now. This is embarrassing. Kanaka Maoli have been begging people to stop coming to the islands because you're putting elders at risk. It is literally free to just do what Kanaka's ask and not visit. It costs you absolutely nothing. Native Hawaiians are the smallest minority, not just in the US, but in the entire world. They make up 0.2% of the entire population. It is estimated that by 2025, in 3 years, the last full-blooded Hawaiians will die off. Traveling to Hawai'i during a global pandemic, only speeds up this process. Mahalo.

Not really! I did more excursions my last trip so I kind of just wanted to chill this time. But def recommend ziplining in Hawaii or doing any hikes (: People also like the boat experiences there. Favorite restaurant is probably marugame udon, helenas (didn't go in this video), eggs & things and jenny's shrimp or hono's shrimp

@@HeySarahPaige I visited last October and we showed our proof of vaccination even before getting on the plane to Hawaii. All the restaurants asked for our vaccine cards and we wore masks. Plus, Hawaii depends a lot on tourism... It's so sad to see a comment like this because Malia is wearing her mask all the time and she wasn't disrespecting any elderlies or anyone in her video.

Now you said that Hawai’i relies on tourism. That is modern day colonialism. They put hotels and parking lots on sacred land that legally belongs to Hawaiians. Tourism creates a dependency. Every 1 and 3 native hawaiians will experience homelessness. In 2015 over 50% of the homeless population were native Hawaiians. Over 40,000 are awaiting their rights to housing that they will probably never see in their lifetime and they are required to be at least 50%. 75% of hawaiians are less than 50%. This country has made it impossible for indigenous people to be indigenous. They have to work so hard to have what little they have. My Kanaka grandmother is a product of this, she was forced to work for a white family as their in house maid at the age of 9, her mother died of diseases that settlers brought. These things have muilti-century long lasting repercussions on the livelihood of natives putting them at the bottom of the social ladder and treating them like second class, on their own ancestral land. When I said its believed there will be no more "pure" native hawaiians after 2025, we are talking about modern day genocide. This has a detrimental impact on their mental health. They work for white people, they take care of the land for white people to profit, they pay RENT to while people. All of this include tourism. Tourism does absolutely nothing to help native people, it simply makes the rich richer. It desecrates sacred land and land in general, endangered animals and it's people. Hawai'i is the "extinction capital of the world" because of invasive species being brought over sure, but also, you guessed it, tourism. Tourism, overpopulation of people moving there and overmilitarizing. Hawai'i is home to 434 species, meaning they only live there, 421 of those are endangered. 66 animal and 368 plants. This is a largely due to overtourism. I hope this comment does find you sad, because you have no idea what you’re talking about. The fact that you can read those first statistics and still convince yourself that what you’re doing is ok, is entitlement, it’s dangerous, and it’s rooted in white supremacy and it would cost you nothing to do better. I should not have to offer more statistics than what was in that initial comment. It’s selfish to put your desire to have fun/experience over indigenous people who have been begging, for going on two years now, to stop vacationing in Hawai’i regardless of vaccination status. It’s literally free to not go there, go to Florida or California and pretend.
