Hey James, thanks for the feedback and your kind words on the guitar work. However, I'm curious as to what parts of the album where the vocals supposedly didn't go along with what the music was doing. I personally don't agree at all with that statement, but I'd still like to know where exactly you're coming from with that opinion. Cheers! - Ric

@@MaliceDivine Yep, of the 78 albums and 15 EPs I've reviewed this year so far, I'd put you guys in the top 5 musically. This album musically has many peaks and valleys and mixture of riffs and changes that keep it interesting. Good variety that makes you want to see what's coming next. And by the way, I gave it a thumbs up. However, in my opinion, the vocals didn't do any of that and took away from many of the songs. Pretty close to the same tone all the way through and at times lyrically just came through as talking sometimes over background instead of going with or fitting what was going on, if that makes sense. Also, when a guitar is in the position to take the lead, I expect the vocals to go into the background or cease altogether and allow the guitar to come forward. When I'm listening to this genre I know that I am not going to be listening to Bruce Dickinson or anything like that. Perhaps if this had been instrumental album or vocals more in the background I would have liked more but the vocals just grind on me after a while. Some that listen to this genre don't care about vocals and say they all sound the same and don't matter but vocals matter to me. An album came to mind from last year that was one of my top 5 of the year when I listened to yours and it's from Withering Surface. They are melodic death metal and overall not as hard as you guys but some similarities. The vocalist, while in the same tone for the majority of the album, made perfect changes and actually added to the songs and never took away from them. There is a lot of talent with you guys and I wish you guys success!

Surprise that a "reviewer" doesn't agree with consumers. Vocals fit great, matches the rhythm, follows in pitch reasonably, since the vocal style doesn't change much these are important. Vocals are clear and are well placed in the mix (sounds to me focused mid-low right with everything else exploding around them). Different than your standard deep death metal growl, makes me think of Aephanemer's and Vektor's vocals a little. Keep your skilled vocalist. Great job on the mix and production.
