Is El Arenal Mallorca's WORST area at 3pm on Sunday? I was genuinely shocked when I walked through Arenal, through what may well be the worst area in Mallorca, especially on a Sunday afternoon.
With reports of crackdowns on island-wide alcohol excess, there was little evidence of any crackdown in Arenal.
Without any police in sight (I have seen them frequently patrol in Magaluf), I was surprised to see widespread drinking on the beach and litter, bottles and cans strewed on the promenade.

We stayed in Playa De Palma maybe four years ago in April. Still quiet and so glad we missed this. Had no idea it was so crazy

It's a literally a small area of the PdP... get a few blocks down the road and you don't notice this!

Oh wow!!!! This is how I imagined the whole of Mallorca to be before I discovered your fabulously informative channel!! It looks like people are having a really fantastic time and amazing that it was just 3pm! I prefer a quieter good time though. I am so glad you opened my eyes to show what awesome and gorgeous other places Mallorca offers aside from places like this.m It’s so sad that many of them leave so much rubbish behind.

Hi Alex. Went to Arenal in the late 1970’s and it was very quiet mainly more mature couples and families, fast forward, what a difference. I’m pretty disgusted about all the rubbish left on the street. It’s not a place for me. But I’m glad it’s only in an isolated resort and not all the resorts are the same. Thanks Alex.

It's alight if late in season, tho be careful of side streets, as got chased by guard dogs once by the highway (east of the bridge of Jews)

Terrible! Sadly, that has put us right off. We were going to book the hotel behind the Mrga, so glad we didn't. That's exactly the way to tarnish the reputation of a once beautiful place. So sad to see.

Lucily this is isolated to a few streets, and further up the Playa de Palma in Can Pastilla is a totally different scene.

Your English is fine! September last year was quite busy, but make sure you wait until the second or third week and when kids are back at school ... Check my channel for other resorts! You may like St Elm!

My grandfather passed away in arenal in 1995. We came over most years after that in October and often march. We used to stay in the ayron hotel and watch all the cyclists (my grandad was a cyclist) . We stopped coming as a family when it turned full of drunk Germans in about 2016 but I am here now with my son and husband. We wouldn't come any later than now. It's starting to get very busy.

I’ll be honest Alex, been to Mega Park a few times, always travelled in from Palma Nova, brilliant atmosphere and a good night out and that’s from a middle aged Scot 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 never seen any trouble maybe just been lucky but def a good day out

I went out last September on the Playa de Palma, and ditto...had a great night with my Dutch mate. Really good atmosphere and friendly people on one of the main streets too which seems to cater more for older travellers. I have the vid on my channel from last year.

I ended up there last month and didnt realise it was pretty much a German resort! A real shock but the Germans were nothing short of amazing. Made the holiday. At MegaPark you had 10 sets of different football team fans drinking and watching the games together. Not 1 ounce of trouble. Put the same english fans together and you know what would happen! Fab resort if thats your kind of thing

That's fantastic Richard. I have to admit I went out there in September, and the atmosphere was really good... no touble then and no trouble there. I'm just annoyed about the rubbish though.

Spot on. Germans know how to drink lots and still stay decent. Brits usually behave disgustingly on holidays.

A certain kind of Brits. Most are nice and polite and normal, but for some it’s the only goal getting drunk and be as loud as they can 😂

Wow. I can’t quite believe that. I thought they had outdoor drinking laws in Spain. Some of the rubbish lying around was terrible. ( did they import more looky looky men for the day). Great video Alex

I know there are laws prohibiting drinking in Madrid and other areas in Spain but I don't think they apply here... Also laws against illegal street traders too... lol

We have just got back from a 12 day holiday and it was absolutely unbelievable, the video does not do it justice it was much worse, the hotel we stayed in did nothing to discourage the actions of these people would not recommend it to anyone😢

Hmm, I hate to say it but this video comes across a little bit xenophobic imo, yes there are huge crowds and they're drinking, but it literally was the quietest most reserved crowds of that age I've seen, literally no one was screaming and shouting, lying in a pool of their own vomit, falling all over the place, and no one was walking up the street half naked in a mankini, it had an almost bizarrely low level of noise given the numbers of people there. Now compare that to Magaluf where the English are haha, the things I've seen there, and in San Antonio Ibiza, and in Benidorm etc. Those Germans were quite respectable in comparison!

I stayed there for a week Colin and I didn't realise it was a German resort!! You are so right. It was brilliant and the Germans drunk loads but not one ounce of trouble and problems and such a safe place to be. Was refreshing to see. We all know if this was the English what would happen here!!

Please don't put Benidorm in this category. Wouldn't be allowed! Was in Palma, so so busy and the hundreds of youngsters drinking. Won't be back. Was in benidorm last week, nothing like this, mostly families.

Yep, I did say that at the end of the video - there was no trouble, and a good vibe - but the thing is some don't pick up which is just disrespectful and not nice especially when those bottles get smashed

It's not just Germans, the problem is not just isolated to one demographic as we all know....Magaluf is trying to clean it's act up for the same reason and Germans aren't the only culprits for excessive drinking and partying..

Hi Kenny, I was genuinely surprised particularly as you say, the island is trying to clean up its act. Obviously not here. Magaluf is v. different to this from what I have seen this year and on a much smaller scale.

@@MallorcaUnderTheSun Well it's not obvious anywhere yet and local councils are supposed to be in unicen about this problem. Issue is businesses will kick up a fuss like they do... Magaluf has been notorious for a lot worse than what I saw in your video.......go there in August and the height of summer season to see if it has changed ( that's not an order by the way 😂)

El arenal is far from the worsed I was there last year found the Germans very well behaved but the new alcohol rules only have moved the problem from the bar to the street because they buy alcohol from the shops instead of bars and drink on the beaches

I said “horrific” referring to the mess at the end of the night. Did you see the nighttime video from last year. Yes it was! Not to mention the smell. I’m not against anyone having a good time as I said - but the mess is disgusting and I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want it on your home turf.
