Hey brother, thank you so much for taking the time and hanging out with me in this video. They are both great machines, but it honestly comes down to what inspires you to make music the most and go for that machine. The MPC workflow is endless, and has so much you can do with it and sometimes it could be overwhelming for some people versus the SP404 has its limitations but the few options that he gives you it does it very great. At the end of the day we are both great machines, but if I had to pick one, it would definitely be the MPC.

What up Malo? I just contacted Akai via inquiry and, left a comment on their 2.10 youtube video and, hopefully it will gather steam if the rest of us do the same. (In a future update it would be nice if they upped the sample rate choices to at least include 48khz so we can use our SP-404MK2s as audio interfaces with our MPCs. This would augment the combined workflows of the two beast machines).

Hey man, I have a pair of focals too... do yours have volume controls or not.. mine dont.. I messages Focal directly to find out IF the speakers were on full volume all the time but got no response... I can only think that they are, because of the automatic switch OFF option if you want it on or off... it seems like they may have used that option because of the electricity consumption IF they are on full volume all the time...any thoughts... love your channel

I agree, you could definitely come up with similar effects in the MPC using its plug-ins which might take a little longer to come up with but this combo definitely makes a fun
@rensx49522 жыл бұрын
Why on the third option do you go for mono specifically? It is just because of the cables you have/use? I think I should be able to route for example the drums in stereo from MPC -> SP, add effects in the SP and then route the sound back from SP -> MPC. Thanks in advance!
@malobeats2 жыл бұрын
Yes you are absolutely correct with the routing that you described the only reason I go mono in to the SP it’s because I don’t do no panning on my drums so they are technically in mono so one cable is OK for me to go from my MPC to the SP then coming out of the SP after giving it certain effects, if those effects are in stereo then it would be a good recommendation to use a stereo cable coming out of the SP into the MPC

Great video. I have an MPC X and it's my primary beat machine since I go all the way back to the original MPC 2000. I have decent experience with mixing plugins so my question is, can't you duplicate many, if not all, of the effects from the SP 404 using the MPC supplied plugins? I also have the native instruments Komplete 9 bundle that comes with a lot of plugins. I know each machine has its own sound so that may be the selling point here. I'm just trying to get an idea if purchasing the SP 404 would make sense or if I'm just doing because I want a new toy lol
@user-mb8rf7qk5q2 жыл бұрын
You’d be buying it bc you want a new toy 😂 The MPC X is a $2500 monster and the SP is a $400 toy. I have a MPC One, got it like a year ago and learned it completely from scratch and this thing is incredible, and I know the X is the One on steroids. If you want a new toy just get it and enjoy, don’t beat yourself up 😆
@pbarre792 жыл бұрын
@@user-mb8rf7qk5q that's exactly what I figured lol. You know how we love our toys though haha. I've even been looking at the maschine Mk3 for shits and giggles. None of them match the MPC but it's nice to have variety. Thx again, bro

Girl, I am about to pin your comments lol you could not have said it any better. this is a pretty expensive way of doing fx n compression. the sp404 mk2 is over 400 quid, for less then a 100 quid you can get a old alesis rack compressor for your drums and keep your loops in the mpc and tweak them there. maybe save that extra money towards an elektron analogue heat that is actually designed for this purpose then sell your old rack compressor.
