@Madison- this is a piece of malware called ransomware. Kaspersky Lab specialists’ designed a special utility: Kaspersky WindowsUnlocker (support.kaspersky.com/8005?el=88446). The utility can be launched when your computer is started from Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 (support.kaspersky.com/4131). Follow the steps outlined in Kaspersky Lab’s support page to install Kaspersky Rescue Disk and Kaspersky WindowsUnlocker for the complete removal and remediation process.

Hello Kaspersky Team !! I have a question---is it possible to infect or spread malware by someone by providing software activation licence key/code alone? Since, now a days software can be manage from central console (including anti-virus software). Lets say, an activation code KAV can activate the product; a key provider is now aware of a new addition of computer. He/she then creates an exclusion (malware and IP address) in its central console, which later-on used to inject malware in the added system. Is this hypothetical scenario is possible in todays emerging threat environment?

Even if you are pure, the probability of you having SOMETHING is decent. I get a virus through normal use of my pc ever 1 - 3 months, and alot of the time its one every month. But you will only notice 1 out of 10 perhaps. Thats why full system scans are important to do perhaps every 1 -2 months.

kaspersky is not a malware (unless you got it online by a fake kaspersky website like some of the fake anti virus) i got kaspersky in a computer (not online but outside my house :P)

Very usuful information. The thing to know also is that a huge number of so called 'known good' software, including protection software, introduce vulnerabilities in your systems in the best case scenario, and collect data in the worst.
