This is my mom's chicken dumpling recipe, I've been looking for it for years. Those clumps Adele they're not dumplings. This is what I was brought up with as well. No wonder it tastes so good,One of the ingredients is lard 😮

I use pioneer baking mix with butter milk for my dumplings. It's easy and comes out awesome ever time.

This looks just like my mom's chicken and dumplings! I've not seen her make it in years and years. I'm going to try it - the last time I made them the dumplings were gummy. I see what I did wrong. I forgot the lard! Thank you for the video.

Yes, noted! This was a super old video that the local news made for facebook many moons ago. I was just uploading it here so I have it. I’m planning on reshooting all the old ‘hands in pan’ videos that we shot on the local news soon, and this one is near the top of the list!

How much shortening are you using exactly. Is that 2 tablespoons of crisco. I'm trying to learn this to teach my wife. She makes flat squares and calls them dumplings lol this is the dumplings I was brought up eating.

Recipe said "a couple tablespoons of shortening." Flat dough squares are also dumplings. Sounds like you are referring to drop dumplings which puff up as they cook. That's how my Mom always made them and my preference as well. ;)

This looks just like my late grandmother’s recipe, thank you for sharing this ♥️ I wish I would have paid better attention to her when she cooked this. I do have a quick question - this recipe follows hers best I can remember, except she mentioned adding a can of cream of chicken. Did I misunderstand or do you think I can add the cream of chicken to the pot before adding the dumplings? I would love your input because I am not sure. I want to re-create the dish she loved cooking for her family.
