In 2001 Mamady Keïta and his group Sewa Kan performed at the National Theatre in Tokyo, Japan. This was the first time that a Black Musician ever performed in this theatre since it opened. The National Theatre in Tokyo is the most prestigious theatre in the country. This is the first time the world will see Mamady´s amazing performance called Djembe Kan that he dedicates to honor his master Karinka Djan Konde.

At first I was like "what is the fuss all about?" but continued listening. It took me a while to understand how is the music amazing. That rhytm and energy .. it is so pure.

He was showing the notes of the djembe slap base tones and it’s combinations. After introducing you to the notes and combos he played them as a one of the best djembefola to walk on the planet earth.
