Was THAT the biggest SLAY in K-pop EVER???!!! Mamamoo has staged some of THE MOST outrageous live performances in stage history!! They are MAGNIFICENT!!! Somewhere there is video of them doing the most fantastic performances in the street outside of other performers theaters. The crowds reactions are priceless.

Here's some background on the concert and the songs they performed. This is from one of their Moosical Curtain Call concerts in 2017, probably the first show in Seoul. The previous year they held their debut solo concerts called Moosical and as I recall they were the fastest girl group to have their own concerts at that time. The songs were all covers of classic Korean tunes they had performed on the singing competition tv show Immortal Songs 2. Mamamoo appeared on Immortal Songs 14 times between 2015-19 and were the first girl group to win an episode and the only idol group with multiple wins. At that time Immortal Songs was dominated by famous mainstream singers and groups and the few kpop groups who were invited to the show usually didn't fare well in the competition. Their appearances on Immortal Songs helped Mamamoo gain the attention of the general public, who eventually coined the phrase BeLisMaMoo: Believe and Listen to Mamamoo. You didn't mention the band but I thought they killed it. Mamamoo always uses a live band for their Korean concerts. Mamamoo's light sticks are shaped like daikon radishes and are called moobongs (hammers??). Before they had official light sticks Korean moomoos would show up at MMM events wearing radish costumes and carrying real radishes. 🤣 Good luck seeing a Mamamoo concert. When they did their first US tour earlier this year they said they'd be back but I took it as a wish rather than a promise. Given the multiple agencies they're currently signed with and their increased activity as solo artists scheduling the the four of them for another US or world tour isn't likely to happen anytime soon. It's unclear when or whether they'll record another album as a full group and without a new album a tour is even less likely. Though I don't expect them to disband and they've consistently maintained that Mamamoo will continue there's been no announcement of their future plans. Solar and Moonbyul have been doing shows in East Asia as the subunit Mamamoo+ and I could see them coming to the US for a festival next summer, which is probably your best chance to see at least two of them live. Hwasa has also made several solo appearances at kpop festivals around the world and I expect her international presence to increase now that she's signed with Psy's agency P-Nation.

This was for their 2017 concert, named ‘Mamamoo Concert Moosical: Curtain Call’ they picked their version of the songs they sang during the show "IMMORTAL SONGS", performing an Eleven-Minute long medley in the middle of a Four-Hour long concert. Solar wasn't happy with the last belt... because she had to stop to complete it. She is Crazy, love her. BTW it's not a "Hammer" it's a "Raddish"

All of their performances are top notch level. Like you can watch any of their award performances but mama 2018 amd mma 2016 are really my favourites (actually really cool for that time of kpop and till now there's no performance like this)!

You get it. Always glad to see another new fan realize how amazing they are. I'm not old enough to remember WWII, but my father is, so I grew up listening to big band music. I have 37 songs on my computer from the Andrews Sisters and never really expected another girl group to surpass them. Counting solos and duets, I now have 50+ Mamamoo songs. They are simply THE BEST. I have listened to 100+ girls and girl groups now, and while none of them come close to Mamamoo, I can recommend several: Girl's Day (Female President got me in to K-Pop and is still my favorite), Laboum, Crayon Pop, Orange Caramel, Kara, and T-Ara were all good girl groups; Kang Hyeyeon (trot), Uhm Jung Hwa (Poison - 1998! & Invitation -1999), Jang Yoon Jung, Chae Jung Ann (early 2000s), Lee Jung Hyun (early 2000s), and Seo Moon Tak (still performing and recording) are all good soloists; and Rolling Quartz is a very good K-Rock girl group. A Korean producer who goes by various names including Jimi Yu (picture your stereotypical nerd and make him Asian and that's Jimi Yu) put together the ultimate badass girl group for one song... they were Uhm Jung Hwa (born 1969), Lee Hyori (1979), Jessi (1988), and Hwasa (1995). The group was called Refund Sisters, and the song was called Don't Touch Me. The song is a banger and the behind the scenes videos of them trying to work together are hilarious. Hwasa and Jessi bonded, even though they did the most arguing.

Would love it if you could react to their individual performances from Immortal Songs, they're so much better than this, even though this sampler is amazing. A lot of reactions from their live performances have stuck around YT for years, so I don't think it's a problem, but you could always make it a Patreon thing. Contrary to the current story, there actually was a lot of hype about them when they first debut. A lot of industry insiders heard of them and were impressed, even their debut featured a lot of heavy hitters just for cameos. However, it was their Immortal Songs appearances that really helped their popularity. They captured the main population that doesn't care about kpop idols usually.
