Thanks for this video. I suggest making a new version of this video and include where to put chd files (or recommended/best practice for that) and maybe even cover the differences between split, merged, non-merged romsets etc. and why someone might want to use each. Then also include going into Mame itself and telling it where the chd files are (assuming that is a needed step to get CHD games working in Mame through Launchbox (I'm not sure if it is as I'm just about to get mine setup and haven't done it yet).

A handful of arcade games in MAME such as Metal Slug have a lot of slowdowns unless you use the option within MAME once the game is running to "overclock" the CPU. The problem is MAME does not allow you to save this setting so you have to do it every single time you start a game. My question - is there a script or some other method that once a game is loaded it would automatically set the CPU to 200% or maybe a script that you could do an easy button combination on a controller or keyboard which would trigger the system to set the CPU to 200% ?

For 3 years now I try to get my arcade to run, and finally after switching from HyperSpin/RochetLauncher to Launchbox it's so much easier. Got myslf BigBox and EmuMovies and its absolutely amazing! Thanks to your videos I got so much further than with the old setup. One big question remains. I try to get as many systems as possible to run with RetroArch since you can have amazing shaders with it. I am using the MegaBezel pack. I see, that the LaunchBox import for MAME is very well made and it just works so I want to do it this way. Is it possible to also get the amazing shaders from RetroArch for MAME? That would make the immersion perfect for MAME as well.

I have a problem, found a good rom set on a certain archive website. But cannot download as its too many files for "zip on the fly"? is this a problem with my zip program or what?

Also if you delete the command -nofilter from the "-artwork_crop -skip_gameinfo -waitvsync -nofilter -keyboardprovider dinput -rompath %romlocation%" it will make the games look better and not all pixelated and sharp.. you get to this by clicking Tools/Manage emulators

I just discovered though that if you use the full set importer and the set you have is not complete, it will just add missing games to your library anyway. I figured this out when i went to export a curated list weeding out all of the fruit, trivia, etc. It says i've got 2300 games in my library but only exports 1600. It shouldn't import games that aren't there. Very confusing.

Downloading the metadata took longer than expected. There was like 28K items to download and it took about 24 hours! 🤣🤣

Hi, thanks for all your hard work, you're my go to launchbox guy, I have a problem and I was wondering if you could help me? I'm using mame 2.4.1 with a couple of game and watch zips files ( they have the files inside ) however I can't get them to import as when I choose the roms and direct it to the mame/rom folder no zip files are there to import but if I exit launchbox and just use mame they're there and work fine, also is there any way to convert the zip files to a MGW file as I can't find the mario bros.widescreen / Crystal screen rom as MGW anywhere thanks

Great video! But how do I get the games to run through retroarch, and use the mame core for the 0.240 romset? Is that even a thing?? I just prefer to use retroarch since all of the buttons are mapped out of the box.

Hello, help please. So i downloaded mame 0.252 rom set then import it to launchbox as Full Set Import. Selected recommend download the necessary emulator and update for it. After downloaded, i tried running couple games, some of them just go on black screen then exit back to the main menu. As well with couple seconds black screen delay. Is there a better stable version of the rom set i should have got instead? Or should i have downloaded the emulator manually and import as Roms

ok. Silly question as I have used MAME for years but never really got a handle on BIOS files and should I copy the BIOS files to the ROMS directory and overwrite some of the duplicate ROM/BIOS files? Or have another directory for BIOS.

I imported the games and downloaded the romset and none of the games run. No games in the mame roms folder either?

Sadly, this is not perfect. I done this yesterday and decided to give it a try today, so one of my test games is 10 Yard Fight, and the audio quality and the speed is rubbish. I just tried launching the game via MAME directly and that was a lot better, so something is wrong somewhere. The year is now 2023 when I done this on the latest version of BB as I only brought it on black Friday, and using Mame 0.258 I think it is. I will add, that I have now done this twice and I downloaded 0.260 and removed 258, the audio quality and stuttering is really bad. So sadly, this import is not out of the box, so some playing around is needed, just a shame as really this should be perfect.

Can you make a video How to set a TV as Primary Screen in BigBox? I go to BigBox Options and I set my TV as Primary Screen. When I launch Arcade game. MAME was opened on my PC Monitor instead of my TV. Even make my TV as Primary Monitor in Windows 10 Settings won't help ether.
