What’s happening in this Mamma Mia! movie clip?
During the wedding ceremony, Donna finally mentions the "father" issue, and the secrets begin unraveling: all three potential fathers publicly claim to be Sophie's father and agree to happily take a 'third' each. Sophie and Sky (Dominic Cooper from Warcraft) decide to postpone the wedding, as Sky wanted all along,and to take a trip around the world together. Sam (Pierce Brosnan from Dante’s Peak and James Bond) proposes to Donna, revealing that after falling for her two decades previously, he had to go back to England to break off his engagement. But when he came back to Kalokairi,one of her friends told her she was off with another man(Bill). He went home and got married anyway. But that was a mistake and he is now divorced. He argues that if they marry right away,the wedding party is not wasted. Donna agrees to marry Sam (I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do).

Donna (Meryl Streep from The Iron Lady), an independent single mother is about to marry her only daughter Sophie (Amanda Seyfried from Dear John) whom she raised on a Greek island all by herself. I suppose a less confusing phrase she could have used would have been "sods law" xxx

@@lisawright5674: I believe the stage version was based on the movie, which came first. I saw an interview with Bjorn Ulvaeus where he said that they'd worked long and hard to get everything down for the movie first. Therefore, it was changed for the stage version.

Rubbish. His singing is fine. And besides, the character he is playing is the boyfriend of a singer, so why would a boyfriend of a singer be a great singer? It's a naturalistic musical not a Hollywood musical -- different genre altogether.

I know, that was always the one part of the film that made no sense to me. I get that they needed to call of the wedding so Donna and Sam could step in, but I would have preferred Sophie saying something along the lines of apologising to Sky for prioritising finding her dad as the goal of the wedding, and suggesting a do-over later that was really about them? Or maybe if that was too serious something funny like 'I need to carry on family tradition and date three men before I decide which I'm going to marry!' 😂

And then the father took full custody for whatever reason. And did Mentioning the mother ever again. I just thought what that situation will look like for males perspective.

I really love this movie when I was a teen the first time I watched it, and I still love it until today, BUT, really watching this again as an adult I feel bad for Sky, imagine your wedding being kind of overshadow by something like this. I know most of the weddings are more focus on the bride, but this is too much u.u How patient Sky is with Sophie. 1:53 I can't with her expression xDD
